Sweet and Sour Pork image

Pork is stir-fried with peppers, carrots, onions and pineapple in this version of the classic dish. Easy to make, and delicious.

1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon Kikkoman Soy Sauce
1 pound boneless pork, cut into 1-inch cubes
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 carrots, thinly sliced
1 onion, chunked
1 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares
1 cup Kikkoman Sweet & Sour Sauce
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained

Steps:

  • Blend cornstarch and soy sauce in small bowl; stir in pork until well coated.
  • Brown pork in hot oil in Dutch oven or large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir in 1/4 cup water. Cover and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir carrots, onion, bell pepper and sweet & sour sauce into pork mixture. Simmer, covered, 10 minutes longer, stirring frequently.
  • Add pineapple chunks; cook and stir only until pineapple is heated through.

½ lb pork, chopped into bite size pieces
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon corn flour
1 egg
1 cup corn flour
2 ½ cups oil
2 tablespoons oil
2 teaspoons garlic, crushed
½ green bell pepper, chopped
½ red bell pepper, chopped
⅔ cup pineapple
¼ cup white caster sugar
¼ cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoons ketchup

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine all marinade ingredients with the pork. Cover and leave to marinade in the fridge 20 minutes.
  • Place the corn flour in a large bowl and toss the marinated pork chunks until liberally coated.
  • In a medium-sized saucepan, heat the oil to 350˚F (180°C).
  • Deep fry the pork pieces for about 3-4 minutes until the coating is golden brown and the pork is cooked throughout. Set aside.
  • For the sauce, place a frying pan over a medium heat and add the oil.
  • Sauté the garlic until fragrant, then fry the peppers until soften.
  • Add in the pineapple and warm thorough.
  • Add the sugar, vinegar, and ketchup, stir. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Add the pork to the frying pan and coat everything evenly with the sauce.
  • Serve top with sesame seeds.

1 (1 1/2 pound) pork tenderloin
1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing
ground black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon minced onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon prepared horseradish

Steps:

  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat. Cut tenderloin into 9 slices and brush with olive oil. Season to taste with freshly ground black pepper.
  • Place the meat onto preheated grill. Grill until no longer pink in the center, 3 to 4 minutes per side. When finished, place pork on a plate, and allow to rest for 5 minutes.
  • While pork is cooking, stir together sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, Dijon mustard, onion, garlic, red pepper flakes, and horseradish in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, and stir until smooth. Pour sauce over sliced tenderloin to serve.

I love thel ist for RSC 15 as it is usually on hand at home. So in honour of those ingredients here is a creation I hope you will enjoy as much as we did. The other white meat is healthy for you. Apples and a suprise with bread crumbs top off the taste to give you the sweet and savory petite explosion with each bite. Kids will love this yet it is company friendly. Looks very pretty on a plate for those dinners where you want to impress.

6 country-style pork ribs (chops or steaks)
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup milk
3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon dried basil
2 tablespoons olive oil (Pam spray if watching fats)
1 large onion, sliced 6 thick slices
3 apples, halved cored, and seeded, cooking apples
6 teaspoons apricot preserves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup water or 1/4 cup broth

Steps:

  • Onion- layer slices of onion across bottom of casserole dish.
  • Country Style Pork Ribs-rinse and pat dry pork chops set aside.
  • in medium flat bowl, beat egg and milk together.
  • in a brown bag (or bowl) mix sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, basil, and Panko breadcrumbs, mix together.
  • dip meat in egg mixture then cover in breadcrumb mixture, either by shaking in bag or by coating in a shallow dish both sides of chops.
  • Heat to medium heat a large frypan, with the olive oil or sprayed with Pam.
  • Sear country ribs til slightly browned and set into a casserole dish.
  • (ribs may overlap some).
  • Topping-Once completed, put an apple half on top of each rib, cored side up. ( a mini well should be in each apple from coring),.
  • fill cored apple with apricot preserves divided evenly among the apples.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • add in water, cover casserole dish with cover or tin foil.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minute.
  • Let sit for 5 minutes before serving so the juices can relax.
  • NOTE-Times may need to be adjusted depending on the thickenss of the meat.
  • I prepared 3/4 to 1 inch Country Style Ribs- blade steak cut for this meal.
  • You may also just add in chopped apples and drizzle with the preserves.
