Italian-Style Sausage and Peppers image

In this quick and easy sausage and peppers variation, a mix of flavors is brought together with the ease of just adding Classico® Tomato & Basil Sauce.

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 pound sweet Italian sausage links
3 bell peppers (green, yellow and/or red), sliced
1 large yellow onion, sliced into rings
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 (24 ounce) jar Classico® Tomato and Basil Sauce
4 fresh Italian sandwich rolls

Steps:

  • Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages; cook until browned on all sides, following cooking instructions indicated on the packaging. Remove sausages from the pan. Drain grease, leaving about a tablespoon for the vegetables.
  • Cook peppers and onions in skillet over medium heat until they begin to soften. Add garlic, salt, and pepper and cook one more minute.
  • Stir in Classico Tomato & Basil Sauce. Increase heat until sauce begins to boil; reduce heat and simmer over low heat.
  • Cut the sausages into 1-inch pieces; add to the pan and stir to combine. Cook until the sauce has thickened and the peppers and onions are soft, about 10 minutes.
  • Serve in bowls or on rolls as sandwiches.

I got this recipe from my Sister.This is so easy, it's hard to believe how good it is.If you have ever been to an Italian Festival, this will bring back fond memories.

1 lb Italian sausage, hot or sweet
3 lbs bell peppers
1 (35 ounce) can italian crushed tomatoes
1 clove garlic, crushed
1/2 teaspoon salt, to taste
pepper
1/8-1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 cup oil (I use olive oil)

Steps:

  • Use a roasting pan large enough to hold all ingredients.
  • Clean peppers, cut into strips& place in the pan.
  • Cut sausage into 1 1/2 slices& put on top of the peppers.
  • Pour the tomatoes over them.
  • Sprinkle the oil and the rest of the ingredients over all.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Bake about an hour, stirring several times during the cooking.
  • Serve in a dish or better yet, in sandwiches with crusty Italian bread or rolls.

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
12 fresh Italian sausages, hot or sweet (about 1- 3/4 to 2 pounds)
1 large Spanish onion, cut in halved, and cut into 1/4 inch slices
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 large red peppers, trimmed, seeded, ribs removed, cut into 1/2-inch wide strips
2 large yellow peppers, trimmed, seeded, ribs removed, cut into 1/2-inch wide strips
2 poblano peppers, trimmed, seeded, ribs removed, cut into 1/2-inch wide strips
4 large cloves garlic, minced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
6 crusty sandwich rolls, toasted

Steps:

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the sausages and cook until well browned on all sides, about 10 minutes. Remove the sausages from the pan and set aside. Pour off all but 1 tablespoon of oil. Add the onions and cook, stirring, until golden, about 5 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute more. Add the peppers, garlic, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook until the peppers are wilted, about 5 minutes. Return the sausages to the pan, cover, and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sausages are cooked through, about 12 minutes more. Stir in the vinegar. Divide the sausage and peppers evenly amongst the crusty rolls and serve.

2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1 large red onion, cut into 2-inch chunks
2 red bell peppers, cored, seeded, and cut into 2-inch chunks
2 green bell peppers, cored, seeded, and cut into 2-inch chunks
4 fresh, hot Italian sausages
4 fresh, sweet Italian sausages
1 cup milled or crushed canned Italian plum tomatoes
1 1/2 cups dry red wine
1 pinch of dried oregano
Salt and freshly ground pepper

Steps:

  • In a large skillet with a lid, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic, onion, and peppers, and cook, stirring, until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the sausages, and cook about 4 minutes more, until sausages begin to brown. Add the tomatoes, wine, oregano, and a large pinch of salt. Cover, bring to a simmer, and simmer gently about 25 minutes, until the peppers are very soft. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately. 5 pounds Italian sausage links
2 (28 ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 tablespoon onion powder
4 large green bell peppers, thickly sliced
3 large onions, thickly sliced
25 (6 inch) Italian-style hoagie buns

Steps:

  • Cut the sausages apart into individual links if necessary, place the sausage links into a large skillet over medium heat, and brown them on all sides. Set the sausages aside, reserving the pan drippings.
  • Pour the whole tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, and tomato sauce into a large saucepan with a lid; stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, sugar, and onion powder. Bring the mixture to a boil; add the cooked sausages, pan drippings, green peppers, and onions. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until the vegetables are very tender and the sauce has thickened, about 6 hours. Serve on Italian hoagie buns.

Super Easy Sausage & Peppers image

A simple and delicous way to serve sausage and peppers with a tomato sauce base. This is one of my husband and kids favorite meals. They like it served over rice because it makes alot of "gravy" that soaks into the rice. It's one of my favorites because it's quick, easy and has only a few ingredients that I usually have on hand.

1 -2 tablespoon olive oil
1 large sweet onion, halved and sliced

  • Preheat oven to 400.
  • Bake cut up sausages for about 20 minute While sausage is cooking put onion and oil in large skillet saute onion till translucent.When sausage is done add to skillet with the onions and add the tomato sauce. Cook for 20 minutes then add the peppers and cook 20 minutes more.Serve over rice.
