I fix this supper when I'm pressed for time. It's as tasty as it is fast. Team it with salad, bread and fruit for a comforting meal. -Donna Roberts, Manhattan, Kansas

1-1/2 cups uncooked medium pasta shells (about 4 ounces)
1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
1 medium onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to package directions; drain., Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook and crumble beef with onion and garlic over medium-high heat until no longer pink, 5-7 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until flavors are blended, 10-15 minutes., Stir in pasta; heat through.

A meal in itself! Although, cornbread on the side is a great touch. Even the leftovers are delicious, warmed or cold. I often find myself with a fork digging into the leftover bowl right out of the fridge:)

This is a dish my mom made alot when we were growing up. I recently started making it for my husband and he LOVES it; even my 18-month old daughter cleans her plate when I make it.

16 ounces shell pasta
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 (12 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 can cream of mushroom soup
8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Spray a large casserole dish with cooking spray.
  • (I have a 4 quart casserole dish I use for this.) In a large skillet, brown together ground beef and onion; drain grease and return to pan.
  • Add tomato sauce, mushroom soup, 1/2 cup of the cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic.
  • Simmer uncovered.
  • While meat mixture is simmering, cook the pasta according to package directions.
  • Combine the pasta and the meat mixture together in the casserole dish; mix well.
  • Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is bubbly.

1 lb bacon, diced
1 small onion
2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans diced tomatoes, drained
1 (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 1/2 cups water

Steps:

  • Boil salted water, add noodles, and cook til tender. Drain.
  • Cook bacon til browned. Drain most of fat, add onion.
  • Cook til transparent. Stir in diced tomatoes and tomato sauce, and water. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve over the noodles.
