Steps:
- Combine milk, butter, sugar, and salt in saucepan;heat until butter melts. Cool to 105°F to 115°F.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large mixing bowl; let stand 5 minutes. Stir in milk mixture, eggs, and 2 cups flour; beat at med. speed with an electric mixer until blended. Add remaining 2 cups flour and shredded wheat; beat at med. speed 1 minute, scraping sides of bowl with a spatula. Cover and let rise in a warm place, 1 hour or until doubled in bulk.
- Punch dough down, shape into 3/4 inch balls, place 3 balls in each cup of a well greased muffin pan. Cover and let rise, 45 minutes or until doubled. Bake at 375°F for 118 to 20 minutes.

SHREDDED WHEAT BREAD
This recipe makes two loaves of bread. It is an excellent bread that uses shredded wheat cereal. It is very tasty and I always have shredded wheat on hand as we love it.

Steps:
- Measure the boiling water, butter, salt, and molasses into a mixing bowl, and crumble the shredded wheat into this; cool to lukewarm.
- Dissolve the yeast in the 1/4 cup warm water and let proof for a few minutes.
- Add this to the above lukewarm mixture.
- Add the flour by cupfuls, using as much as you need to have a fairly stiff dough.
- Knead 100 times.
- Grease a bowl and place dough into it.
- Let rise for 2 hours, covered.
- Punch down and rise another hour.
- Turn out on lightly floured board, punch down, and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Make into two loaves, place in greased pans, let rise till double.
- Bake 400 degrees for 50 minutes, covering with foil if it gets too brown.

FEATHER BED ROLLS
A yummy and simple recipe we made in a local cooking class I took a couple years ago. Recipe is from the instructor Fabienne Ratkov. If you're afraid to work with yeast this is the recipe for you!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Grease a couple of 12-count muffin tins.
- Combine yeast and water in a large mixing bowl and let it sit a few minutes to dissolve.
- Add sugar, salt and egg.
- Add flour gradually and beat well.
- Add butter.
- Fill greased muffin tins half full.
- Let rise in a warm place uncovered until level with the top of the pans (although I admit to having loosely covered mine sometimes).
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- The last time I made these I think I got 18 roll/muffins.
- Your yield will, of course, vary depending on how much batter you put in each section of the muffin pan.
SHREDDED WHEAT BREAD
Making bread is one of my favorite things to do, I found this in an old bread cook book I have. It makes one big loaf of bread, you can make 2 smaller loaves if you prefer. This has a really nice texture and flavor.

- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- 2. combine crumbled shredded wheat with the boiling water, sugar, and butter, give it a quick stir and let sit, cool until only lukewarm
- 3. add in the yeast and stir until dissolved.
- 4. Blend in the salt and the flour, then transfer to a oiled bowl, cover and let sit until doubled,(about 40 minutes)
- 5. Punch dough down and on a bread board knead the dough adding more flour if necessary to make a firm dough that can be easily shaped
- 6. shape dough into a loaf and and place in buttered bread pan, cover and let rise again until doubled,
- 7. Bake in preheated oven about 30-40 minutes or until hollow sounding when tapped and top is golden, ( about 30 minutes in my oven)
- 8. You can use 1 cup of Grape-nuts instead of shredded wheat I have only made this recipe with the shredded wheat. If you prefer you can shape dough in to rolls, and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes

- Oven at 350ºF.
- Butter a 9x13" baking pan lined with foil to make removing the pastry easier.
- Combine sugar, water & lemon juice in a
- pot. (NOTE - you could also throw a cinnamon stick into the syrup mixture).
- Bring to a boil & simmer, uncovered for 15 minutes, then cool to room temperature.
- Spread half of pastry (or shredded wheat pastry) in bottom of pan.
- Drizzle with half the melted butter.
- Combine the walnuts with the cinnamon &
- nutmeg and sprinkle over the pastry.
- Layer the remaining pastry over the nut
- mixture.
- Drizzle with remaining butter.
- Give it a light 'press' at this stage to meld all the layers.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove from oven & pour syrup over hot pastry.
- When cool, cut in squares, then in half
- diagonally for triangles. (Allow to sit overnight - you should definitely allow it to sit several hours, unrefrigerated)
