SIMPLE HAWAIIAN DESSERT BARS
I adapted this from a recipe for apple bars made from a cake mix. We like it served warm with ice cream.

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium mixing bowl use a fork to cut butter into dry cake mix, making a mixture that looks like crumbs. Set aside 1 cup of this mixture and press the remaining mixture into the bottom of a 9 by 13 inch baking pan.
- 2. Spoon pineapple pie filling over the bottom crust in the pan. Set aside for a moment. Mix remaining crumb mixture with coconut, nuts, and cherries. Sprinkle over pie filling. Bake for 45 minutes. Cool slightly before cutting.

Steps:
- 1. Combine flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup butter. Pat mixture into ungreased 9 X 13 pan. Bake at 350 oven for 14-19 minutes. Cool slightly.
- 2. Mix together cream cheese, 4 TBS sugar, milk and eggs. Fold in vanilla, and drained pineapple. Spread over baked crust.
- 3. Combine coconut and 2 TBS melted butter. Sprinkle over pineapple layer filling. Bake 350 for 15-20 minutes.

- Preheat the oven to 375F. In a large bowl cream together the butter for the crust and then add in sugar and vanilla. Add in flour and mix very well. Press this into a 9x13" pan. Bake for 15 min. or until golden brown. Let cool for 5 min.
- In the same bowl as above, beat together melted butter, white sugar, egg, vanilla and coconut. Spread the pineapple over the crust and then top with the coconut mixture. Bake for an additional 30 min. or until golden brown on top. Let cool in pan completely and cut into squares. Best if refrigerated.
