This is the recipe my mother used for sloppy joes and it always gets compliments!

1 pound lean ground beef
¼ cup chopped onion
¼ cup chopped green bell pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
¾ cup ketchup
3 teaspoons brown sugar
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, onion, and green pepper; drain off liquids.
  • Stir in the garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar; mix thoroughly. Reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

1 lb ground beef
1 (225 g) package macaroni and cheese mix, dinner (macaroni and cheese, I used Kraft dinner)
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
2 cups water
1 cup tomato sauce
2 cups lettuce, shredded
2 tomatoes, diced

Steps:

  • Brown the beef, and drain. Add macaroni, BBQ sauce and water. Bring to a boil.
  • Cover and simmer for 8 minutes, stirring twice.
  • Add cheese packet (from Kraft dinner) and tomato sauce.
  • Heat through.
  • Serve with lettuce and tomatoes.

Dinner ready in 45 minutes! Enjoy this easy sloppy joe that's made using Bisquick® mix and beef - a delicious meal.

2 pound ground beef
2 medium onions, chopped (1 cup)
2 cans (15.5 ounces each) original sloppy joe sauce
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (8 ounces)
2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
1 cup milk
2 eggs

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°. Cook beef and onions in ovenproof 12-inch skillet over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain. Stir in sloppy joe sauce. Sprinkle with cheese.
  • Stir remaining ingredients until blended. Pour over beef mixture. If skillet is not ovenproof, cover handle with aluminum foil.
  • Bake uncovered about 30 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Place the rinsed lentils in a saucepan and cover with about 2-3 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover and let simmer until tender (about 20 minutes or so).
  • Meanwhile, in a large skillet, brown the ground beef or turkey with the onion. Drain any excess oil off (I never do) and then add the remaining ingredients, stirring well. Bring to a simmer and let cook, stirring occasionally about 5-10 minutes. When the lentils are soft, drain them and add to the skillet, stirring well.
  • Serve in a bowl with lettuce, cheddar cheese, slice pepperoncinis and top with ranch dressing. Add some toasted bread and enjoy!
