Slow Cooker Cranberry Apple Butter Recipes
CROCK POT CRANBERRY APPLE BUTTER
This is from the "Cranberry Festival Recipes" booklet I picked up at the cranberry festival in Bordentown NJ (where one of the Ocean Spray facilities is located) many years ago. It was submitted by a woman from Vincetown NJ and is one of my favorite apple butters. I usually use the cranapple juice.

Steps:
- Core and chop apple; do not peel.
- Combine apples, cranberries and cranapple juice in a slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on high for five hours.
- Puree in sieve, food mill or processor.
- Return pureed mixture to crock pot and add sugar, cinnamon and cloves.
- Cover and cook on high for 1 to 2 hours.

- Add apple chunks, cranberries, orange juice and cinnamon directly to the pressure cooker pot. (no need to stir)
- Close and lock the lid, turning the steam release valve to closed. Press Steam and adjust the time down to 5 minutes (high pressure.) Press Start/Stop.
- When the cook cycle has ended, allow a natural pressure release for 10 minutes and then open the the steam release valve to remove any remaining pressure in the pot.
- Open and stir the mixture, breaking apart any leftover chunks. Taste for desired sweetness. If necessary, stir in honey or sugar while it's still warm in the pot. Add in small increments until desired sweetness is reached.

- Place the diced apples and cranberries in a lightly greased slow cooker. In a medium bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt and vanilla.
- Pour the mixture over the apples in the slow cooker and mix well. Cover and cook on high for 1-2 hours. Reduce heat to low and cook 8-10 hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened.
- Uncover and continue cooking on low 1 hour. Puree with an immersion blender, if desired, to increase smoothness.
- Spoon the mixture into sterile containers. Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 6 months.

- Wash the apples well, and cut them into large chunks, discarding the core and seeds. Add to the crock pot.
- Rinse the cranberries and add them to the crock pot. Give the fruit a stir and then cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hours. Give the pot a stir every once in a while to prevent sticking. If the mixture is sticking you can add a bit of water, but I didn't have to, the natural juices of the fruit should be sufficient.
- Push the puree through a mesh strainer with the back of a large spoon, Force the puree through, you should be left with just a light layer of solids. Rinse out the strainer between batches.
