1 boneless beef chuck roast ((about 2.5 - 3 lbs.))
1 small onion, diced
1 ¾ cups barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons liquid smoke (optional)
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Optional: sandwich buns, split (for serving)

Steps:

  • Spray the liner of a slow cooker with cooking spray. Place the roast and the onion in the bottom of the slow cooker. In a small bowl, whisk together remaining ingredients, except for buns. Pour over beef.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until beef is tender. Remove meat from the pot. Skim any fat from cooking liquid. Shred beef with two forks and return meat to slow cooker. Cover and cook for an additional 15 minutes or until heated through.
  • Place meat on sandwich buns and serve.

½ cup beef broth
1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 (4 pound) boneless beef chuck roast
3 tablespoons barbeque seasoning (such as Grill Mates® Smokehouse Maple)
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 cups barbeque sauce
8 Kaiser rolls, split

Steps:

  • Spray the inside of a 6-quart oval slow cooker crock with cooking spray.
  • Mix beef broth and liquid smoke in a small bowl; pour into prepared crock.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the beef chuck roast. Rub barbeque seasoning over the roast and lie gently into the liquid in the slow cooker. Drizzle Worcestershire sauce over the roast.
  • Cook on Low until the meat pulls apart easily, 7 to 8 hours. Remove roast to a cutting board and shred into strands with a pair of forks.
  • Drain liquid from the slow cooker crock, reserving 1/2 cup and discarding remainder. Stir reserved liquid with barbeque sauce in a bowl.
  • Return shredded beef to the slow cooker. Drizzle barbeque sauce mixture over the meat and stir.
  • Cook on High until the liquid is bubbling, about 30 minutes. Spoon beef onto split Kaiser rolls.

1 cup barbecue sauce
1/2 cup peach or apricot preserves
1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons packed brown sugar
1 small onion, sliced
12 kaiser or hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • Trim excess fat from beef. Cut beef into 4 pieces. Place beef in 4- to 5-quart slow cooker.
  • Mix remaining ingredients except buns; pour over beef. Cover and cook on low heat setting 7 to 8 hours or until beef is tender.
  • Remove beef to cutting board. Cut into thin slices; return to cooker.

1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

3 racks baby back ribs (about 3 pounds)

  • Whisk the tomato paste, brown sugar, vinegar, chili powder, mustard, garlic, paprika, Worcestershire, 1 1/2 tablespoons salt and 1 teaspoon pepper in the insert of a 6-quart slow cooker until smooth. Cut each rack of ribs in half and add to the slow cooker. Use your hands to rub the sauce on to the ribs. Cover with a lid and cook on low heat until tender, about 4 hours.
  • Gently transfer the ribs to a baking sheet and cool for at least 20 minutes; this will help maintain the shape of the ribs as they grill. Whisk the sauce at the bottom of the slow cooker until smooth. Reserve 1/4 cup of the sauce to brush on to the ribs and save any remaining sauce to serve on the side (it will thicken as it cools).
  • Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates. Grill the ribs, top-side down, until lightly charred in parts, 3 to 5 minutes. Flip, brush the top side of the ribs with the reserved barbecue sauce and grill until the underside of the ribs are lightly charred in parts, 3 to 5 minutes. 1 cup water
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt

2 large onions, (sliced)

2 cups barbeque sauce

Steps:

  • Whisk together the water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, chili powder, garlic powder, and paprika. Pour mixture into slow cooker.

1 tin (5.5 ounces) tomato paste
1/4 cup molasses
2 teaspoons liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder

3 to 3 1/2 pound boneless beef chuck roast, trimmed of excess fat

Steps:

  • Whisk together all the ingredients.
  • Place the roast in the slow cooker, and pour the sauce over the roast, turning to
  • coat it entirely. (I use a 6 quart slow cooker, but a smaller one would work just as fine too.)
  • Cover with lid and cook on low for 10-12 hours, or on high for 5-6 hours.
  • Remove roast from slow cooker and, using two forks, shred the meat. Place shredded meat back into slow cooker and stir to evenly distribute the sauce.
  • Serve immediately on your favourite rolls. We like ours with Swiss cheese and a smear of mayonnaise and a side of coleslaw.
  • Note: For this dish to be gluten-free, make sure to use gluten-free worcestershire sauce, and serve on gluten-free rolls - these ones were Udi's brand.

1 tablespoon salt

2-3 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
1/2 cup bottled or homemade barbecue sauce

Steps:

  • Add the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, chipotle powder, and parsley to a small bowl and stir to combine. Remove 1 tablespoon of dry rub and set aside for later.
  • Coat all sides of the chuck roast with the mustard.
  • Liberally coat the roast in the dry rub. You may not need all of the rub. Store any excess in a covered container for another use.
  • Place roast in a slow cooker on low for 8 hours.
  • Shred the meat with two forks and transfer to a large skillet. Sprinkle with reserved tablespoon of dry rub and add barbecue sauce.
  • Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring often.

1 cup healthy all natural barbecue sauce
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 medium green cabbage (shredded)
3 large carrots (shredded)
1 medium red onion (thinly sliced)

Steps:

  • Add the pork roast, apple juice and salt and pepper to the slow cooker on high for 4-6 hours or on low for 7-8 hours.

Perfect for a summer cookout or potluck, this shredded beef barbecue recipe is made easily in the crockpot!

2 - 3 Tbsp packed light brown sugar
2 1/2 tsp paprika
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper
4 lb beef chuck roast
2 Tbsp yellow mustard
2/3 cup beef broth
1 tsp liquid smoke ((optional))
3 - 4 Tbsp unsalted butter ((sliced))
1 large yellow onion, finely minced
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 Tbsp butter
1 tsp olive oil
salt and pepper, to taste
20 - 24 oz bottle of ketchup
1/3 - 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 - 3 Tbsp molasses
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Set aside. Add chuck roast to slow cooker, drizzle with mustard and rub into the meat.
  • Sprinkle with half of the rub. Rub into the meat, flip the roast over and rub the remaining rub into the meat. Pour in beef broth and liquid smoke (if using), being careful to pour it around the roast, not over it. You don't want to wash away that rub and mustard! Top with butter slices. Cover and cook on LOW for 8-10 hours, or until roast is fork tender.
  • Remove roast from slow cooker to a large cutting board and shred, discarding large fat pieces. Drain cooking juices from the slow cooker and return shredded beef to the slow cooker.

1 onion, diced
1/2 cup celery, diced
4 tablespoons lemon juice or vinegar (or a combo)
1 cup ketchup
3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
2 Tablespoons mustard
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Spray a slow cooker insert with nonstick cooking spray. Place chuck roast in crock pot insert.
  • Combine all remaining ingredients in a bowl, pour over chuck roast.
  • Cover and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 7 - 9 hours or until meat pulls apart easily.
  • Pull meat, return to BBQ sauce.
  • Serve on sandwiches, potatoes, rice or noodles.

Slow cooking roast beef is the perfect way to bring out the best in a joint of topside

1 kg topside or top round beef
500 ml beef stock
187.5 ml red wine (¼ bottle)
2 carrots (roughly chopped)
1 onion (sliced)
6 tbsp cornflour
3 tbsp tomato puree
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tbsp olive oil

Steps:

  • Add the carrots and onions to the slow cooker, then add 3 tbsp of cornflour and stir to ensure an even coating. Rub a little oil all over the beef and season well with salt and pepper. Sear the beef all over in a hot pan, and transfer to the slow cooker.
  • Add the beef stock, red wine, tomato puree and sugar, ensuring that the beef is mostly covered by the liquid. Cook on low for 5 hours, or high for 3 hours. Once cooked, remove the beef from the slow cooker and cover with foil to keep warm. Rest the beef for up to 30 minutes. If you want to be sure about cooking times, use a meat thermometer - one is linked in the equipment list.
  • Reduce the remaining liquid and vegetables in the slow cooker to a gravy consistency, adding 3 tbsp of cornflour to thicken (remove a little liquid, mix in the cornflour to make a paste, and mix it back into the gravy). If you've got a slow cooker with a metal pot (see the equipment list for a recommendation) you can do this by transferring it straight to the hob, if not, you'll need to transfer the contents of the slow cooker to a pan.
  • When you're ready to serve, slice the beef with a sharp knife and coat with plenty of red wine gravy!

2 garlic cloves, pressed

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup lemon juice
3 tablespoons steak sauce
1 teaspoon coarse ground pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
12 Kaiser rolls or sandwich buns
Dill pickle slices

Steps:

  • Sprinkle beef evenly with 1 teaspoon salt.
  • Stir together remaining 1 teaspoon salt, garlic, and next 7 ingredients. Pour half of mixture into a 5 1/2-quart slow cooker. Place beef in slow cooker, and pour remaining mixture over beef.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH 7 hours.
