I've found that those who aren't necessarily coffee fans often change their tune when they get a whiff of this chocolaty coffee drink. I like to serve up a big batch at parties. -Joanne Holt, Bowling Green, Ohio

Yield 8 servings.

Number Of Ingredients 7

8 cups brewed coffee
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup chocolate syrup
1/2 teaspoon anise extract
4 cinnamon sticks (3 inches)
1-1/2 teaspoons whole cloves
Additional cinnamon sticks, optional

Steps:

  • In a 3-qt. slow cooker, combine coffee, sugar, chocolate syrup and extract. Place cinnamon sticks and cloves on a double thickness of cheesecloth. Gather corners of cloth to enclose spices; tie securely with string. Add to slow cooker. Cook, covered, on low 2-3 hours., Discard spice bag. If desired, serve coffee with cinnamon sticks.

Spiced Coconut Coffee image

Don't let the ingredients scare you off. This coffee has a bit of a kick, but it's just right for warming up on those cold winter days. It's easily made in a french press or a regular drip coffee maker. The cinnamon stick can be used more than once. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with ground cinnamon if desired.

2 tablespoons ground coffee beans
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper
2 whole cloves
½ (3 inch) cinnamon stick
2 cups water
½ cup coconut milk
2 tablespoons honey

Steps:

  • Combine the ground coffee, red pepper, cloves, and cinnamon stick in a coffee filter set into a drip coffee brewer. Pour the water into the brewer's water reservoir. Set the coffee brewer on to brew.
  • While the coffee brews, gently warm the coconut milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir in the honey until the honey is dissolved. Pour the brewed coffee into the mixture; stir. Divide the liquid into two mugs to serve.

I'm not normally a coffee drinker but I really like this. It works well for holiday open houses and brunches. I leave the anise out because I don't like the taste. This recipe is from Taste of Home Quick Cooking.

8 cups brewed coffee
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup chocolate syrup
1/2 teaspoon anise extract
4 cinnamon sticks (broken into pieces)
1 1/2 teaspoons whole cloves

Steps:

  • In a 3-qt. slow cooker, combine the coffee, sugar, chocolate syrup and anise extract.
  • Place cinnamon sticks and cloves in the middle of a coffee filter. Bring filter up around spices and tie with string or secure with rubber band. Add to slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours.
  • Discard spice bag. Ladle coffee into mugs; garnish each with a cinnamon stick if desired.

1 teaspoon ancho chile powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon kosher salt
8 ounces cold brew coffee
8 ounces vodka
16 ounces cherry cola, such as Cheerwine
Luxardo or maraschino cherries, to garnish

Steps:

  • Mix the sugar, chile powder, smoked paprika and salt together in a small plate. Dip the rims of four glasses in water, then in the spice mixture to coat.
  • Fill the glasses with ice, then divide among them the coffee and vodka. Top with the cherry cola. Garnish each with a Luxardo cherry.
