GIADA DE LAURENTIIS' SPRITZER SLUSHY



Giada De Laurentiis' Spritzer Slushy image

This frozen riff on the classic Italian summer cocktail, the Aperol Spritz, comes from Rach's buddy Giada De Laurentiis' cookbook "Giada's Italy."

Provided by Giada De Laurentiis

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice
3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
⅓ cup sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
2 cups bitter orange liquor
such as Aperol
1 bottle (750mL) prosecco

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the orange juice, lemon juice, sugar and salt
  • Warm over medium heat to just below a simmer, stirring with a wooden spoon to help dissolve the sugar
  • Once the sugar is dissolved, remove from the heat and stir in the bitter orange liquor
  • Set aside to cool completely
  • Pour the mixture into an 8-inch baking dish and freeze for 4 hours or until completely frozen
  • Using a fork, scrape the surface of the frozen mixture to form large shards of ice
  • Spoon about ½ cup of the mixture into a coupe and top with prosecco

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 1/2 ounces Aperol
3 ounces prosecco
3/4 ounce sparkling water or club soda
1 orange slice, for garnish, optional

Steps:

  • Fill a white wine glass halfway with ice. Add the Aperol, prosecco and sparkling water, and stir twice with a spoon. Serve with an orange slice if desired.

Wine that melts in your mouth! I believe these originally came from Wine Enthusiast. There are three different versions given: Zingy, Tropical, and Jammy. They are an appealing alternative to sangria or a wine spritzer and will really take the edge off a hot summer's day.

1 (750 ml) botttle new zealand sauvignon blanc wine
1 (12 ounce) can frozen limeade concentrate
1 cup cranberry juice
1 (750 ml) bottle unoaked Chardonnay wine
6 ounces mango nectar
1 cup pineapple juice
1 (750 ml) bottle california merlot or 1 (750 ml) bottle australian merlot
1 cup pomegranate juice
1 pint blackberry

Steps:

  • These are all assembled the same way. Add fruit juice or fresh fruit, blend until smooth, and freeze. The alchohol will prevent the mixture from becoming solid ice. Serve in a Margarita glass.
