2 apples, Red Delicious or 2 golden delicious apples
2 oranges
1 large bunch seedless grapes
2 bananas
1 cup strawberry
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 lemon, juice of
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 tablespoon rum
1/2 pint whipping cream

Steps:

Peel apples, oranges and bananas, cut into bite sized pieces.
Cut grapes in half.
Squeeze lemon juice over fruit.
Add vanilla, rum, and walnuts.
Chill for several hours.
Whip cream; fold into fruit. Decorate with strawberries.
Cover and refrigerate until serving time.

Ingredients

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
4 tart green apples (such as Granny Smith), peeled, cored, coarsely chopped
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 pounds red cabbage, shredded
1/4 cup firmly packed golden brown sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/3 cup dry red wine
2 tablespoons red or black currant jelly

Steps:

Melt butter in heavy large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add choped apples and onion sauté until tender, about 10 minutes. Stir in cabbage and cook until slightly wilted, stirring frequently, about 8 minutes. Stir in sugar, cider vinegar, salt, cloves and allspice. Cover and cook until cabbage is crisp-tender, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes. Uncover, add dry red wine and jelly and cook 5 minutes longer. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve warm, room temperature or chilled. (Cabbage can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Reheat over low heat if serving warm.)

Ingredients

2 large cucumbers
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon chives, chopped (or thin-sliced red onion)
1 teaspoon dill weed
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 dash pepper
lettuce (several leaves)
parsley, chopped

Steps:

Peel the cucumbers and slice them thin.
Sprinkle the cucumbers with 1 tsp salt and let stand 30 minutes. Drain.
Combine sour cream, vinegar, chives, dill, sugar and pepper. Pour over cucumbers. Add salt, if needed, to taste.
Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Arrange chilled cucumbers on bed of lettuce. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.
