1 to 1 1/2 pounds roast beef, cut into thin slices
3/4 cup shoyu (soya sauce), low sodium
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 to 3 tablespoons oil or butter

Steps:

  • Mix together all sauce ingredients except the oil or butter. Soak beef slices in sauce for at least 1 hour. Fry in a saucepan in oil or butter for about 4 minutes per side, or until tender.

4 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
1-1/2 cups fresh baby carrots
1 medium green pepper, seeded and cut into 1/2-inch strips
1 medium yellow onion, quartered
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 boneless beef chuck roast (about 2 pounds)
2 tablespoons canola oil
8 ounces medium fresh mushrooms, cut into thick slices
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon beef base
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon pepper
2 to 3 green onions (green portion only), thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Place potatoes, carrots, green pepper and onion in a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker. Rub flour over roast. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat; brown roast on all sides. Transfer roast and drippings to slow cooker; arrange mushrooms around roast and sprinkle roast with brown sugar., Combine teriyaki sauce, ginger, beef base, oregano and pepper in a small bowl. Drizzle sauce slowly over mushrooms and roast., Cook, covered, on low until roast is tender, 7-8 hours. Remove roast and vegetables to a serving platter; top with green onions. If desired, skim fat and thicken cooking juices for gravy; serve with roast.

Instead of a hamburger try this. Serve with a nice stir fry of fresh veggies. To make it spicy just add some chili flakes or Szechuan Sauce.I also put a 1/2 tsp of Wasabi on the bun but only do that if you like it hot. I felt like something different than my regular Saturday Hamburger and this recipe was the result. If you do not wish to use sherry substitute with Sake or apple juice.

1 lb round steaks or 1 lb flank steak, cut to suit stir fry
1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 1/2 tablespoons fresh ginger, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
3 tablespoons dry sherry
3 green onions, chopped
1 cup crisp chow mein noodles
salt & pepper
4 tablespoons pickled ginger
1/4 cup water chestnut, sliced
4 hamburger buns, toasted inside (buttered if you wish)

Steps:

  • Toss the beef in the cornstarch and lightly coat the pieces.
  • Heat the oil in a wok or frypan, have high heat add the beef and brown tossing for 3 minutes.
  • Turn the heat to medium add fresh ginger,garlic, Teriyaki sauce, sherry, chow mein noodles, salt& pepper.
  • Keep tossing another 3 minutes.
  • Add chopped green onions just before removing from the heat.
  • Split the meat into 4 portions and pile on the toasted buns.
  • Top with the pickled ginger and waterchestnuts.
  • Serve hot.

1 can (8 ounces) water chestnuts, drained and chopped
1/2 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
1/3 cup sherry or reduced-sodium beef broth
2 green onions, chopped
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
6 lettuce leaves
6 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the beef and water chestnuts. Shape into six patties. Place in a 13x9-in. dish. , In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, sherry or broth, onions, brown sugar, garlic and ginger. Pour 1/2 cup over patties; cover and refrigerate for 2-3 hours or overnight. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade for basting. , Drain and discard marinade. Using long-handled tongs, moisten a paper towel with cooking oil and lightly coat the grill rack. 1 large zucchini, diced

2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Steps:

  • Combine ground beef, carrots, and bell pepper in a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat; saute for 4 minutes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. 1 tablespoon teriyaki marinade
2 tablespoons finely chopped water chestnuts
Dash pepper
2 medium green onions, finely chopped (2 tablespoons)
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 tablespoon teriyaki marinade
2 slices French bread (1/2 inch thick), toasted if desired
1/2 small bell pepper (any color), cut into rings

Steps:

  • Heat closed medium-size contact grill for 5 to 10 minutes. In small bowl, mix beef, 1 tablespoon marinade, the water chestnuts, pepper, onions and garlic. Shape mixture into 2 patties, each about 3/4 inch thick.
  • Place patties on grill. Close grill. Grill 8 to 10 minutes, brushing with 1 tablespoon marinade, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F.

1 cup ketchup
1 cup water
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 cup onion, chopped
1 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
14 -18 hamburger buns, split
2 -4 lbs roast (trim fat)

Steps:

  • Combine celery, onion, ketchup, bbq sauce, water, vinegar, worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, chili powder, pepper, and garlic powder and mix well.
  • Pour into slow cooker.
  • Add roast, cover and cook high for 6 - 7 hours.
  • Remove roast and shred meat. Return meat to sauce and serve over buns with a slotted spoon.
