SLOW-COOKED BARBECUED BEEF SANDWICHES



Slow-Cooked Barbecued Beef Sandwiches image

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 boneless beef chuck roast (3 pounds)
1-1/2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon liquid smoke, optional
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
12 sandwich buns, split
Sliced onions, dill pickles and pickled jalapenos, optional

Steps:

  • Cut roast in half and place in a 3- or 4-qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, liquid smoke if desired and seasonings. Pour over beef., Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until meat is tender. Remove meat; cool slightly. Skim fat from cooking liquid., Shred beef with two forks; return to the slow cooker. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until heated through. Using a slotted spoon, place 1/2 cup on each bun. Serve with onions, pickles and jalapenos if desired. Freeze option: Place individual portions of cooled meat mixture in freezer containers. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Microwave, covered, on high in a microwave-safe dish until heated through, gently stirring and adding a little broth / water if necessary.

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup cider or white wine vinegar
1/4 cup Land O Lakes® Butter
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh garlic
2 pounds thinly sliced deli roast beef, cut into strips
12 hamburger buns, split
12 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes® Deli American
1 1/2 cups ketchup
1 small (1/2 cup) onion, chopped

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients except beef, hamburger buns, and cheese in 4-quart slow cooker; stir. Add beef; stir to coat. Cover; cook on High heat setting 2-3 hours or until flavors are blended. Reduce heat to Low to keep warm.
  • Spoon beef mixture evenly over bottom half of buns; top each with 1 slice cheese. Place top half of bun over cheese.

1-1/2 cups ketchup
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water
12 kaiser rolls, split
Dill pickle slices, optional

Steps:

  • Cut roast in half. Place in a 5-qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, onion, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, celery seed, paprika and pepper; pour over roast. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until meat is tender., Remove meat. Skim fat from cooking juices; transfer to a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Combine cornstarch and water until smooth; gradually stir into juices. Return to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened., When meat is cool enough to handle, shred with two forks. Return to slow cooker and stir in sauce mixture; heat through. Serve on rolls with pickle slices if desired.

1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 medium green pepper, chopped
3/4 cup ketchup

Steps:

  • Place meat in slow cooker sprayed with cooking spray, cutting into 2 pieces if necessary to fit; top with yellow onions and barbecue sauce. Cover with lid. Cook on LOW 10 to 12 hours (or on HIGH 5 to 6 hours).
  • Remove meat from slow cooker; cut across the grain into thin slices. Return to slow cooker; stir until evenly coated with sauce. Combine coleslaw blend, dressing and green onions.

3 stalks celery, approximately
4 large onions, approximately
3 cups dry red wine
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can condensed beef broth
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 cups chili sauce
3 lbs boneless chuck steaks, about
12 hoagie rolls, split

Steps:

  • Finely chop the celery so that you have 2 cups; chop the onions finely to have 2 cups.
  • Mix onion and celery with wine, beef broth concentrate, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and chili sauce until well-blended.
  • Cook mixture in a saucepan for 20 to 25 minutes, then press mixture through a sieve.
  • Cool.
  • Place chuck steak in a shallow pan or glass dish.
  • Pour marinade over top.
  • Turn steak in marinade several times and allow to marinate for 2 hours at room temperature.
  • Drain the steak, reserving the marinade.
  • Place steak on grill 6 inches above gray coals.
  • Grill 30 minutes, brushing with marinade and turning every 5 minutes.
  • Heat the remaining marinade and keep warm.
  • Toast rolls on grill.
  • Cut the beef into paper-thin slices and place on rolls.
  • Spoon hot marinade over meat and replace tops of buns.
