THE GREAT CANADIAN BREAKFAST SANDWICH RECIPE BY TASTY

- Preheat oven to 400F
- In a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp butter. Crack in egg, season with salt and pepper and fry for 3-4 minutes. Add peameal bacon halfway through, cooking about 1 minute per side. Drizzle maple syrup over top of bacon and egg and continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes, flipping bacon to become coated in maple syrup.
- Cut open the Montreal style bagel and spread each side with remaining salted butter. Place butter side up on a baking sheet. Place a slice of cheddar on each half. Transfer to a 400F oven for 3-4 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
- Remove from the oven. Stack bacon, egg and tomato on one bagel half, season tomato with salt and pepper. Finally add all dressed chips and top with the remaining bagel half, enjoy!

- Preheat oven to 325°. In a large bowl, whisk eggs, milk, salt and pepper until blended. Pour into a 13x9-in. baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake until set, 15-18 minutes. Cool on a wire rack., Meanwhile, toast English muffins (or bake at 325° until lightly browned, 12-15 minutes). Spread 1 tsp. butter on each muffin bottom., Cut eggs into 12 portions. Layer muffin bottoms with an egg portion, a cheese slice (tearing cheese to fit) and Canadian bacon. Replace muffin tops. Wrap sandwiches in waxed paper and then in foil; freeze in a freezer container., To use frozen sandwiches: Remove foil. Microwave a waxed paper-wrapped sandwich at 50% power until thawed, 1-2 minutes. Turn sandwich over; microwave at 100% power until hot and a thermometer reads at least 160°, 30-60 seconds. Let stand 2 minutes before serving.

- Onions, eh?: Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and melt the butter. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, until translucent. Season the onions with salt and continue cooking for another 7 minutes. Turn the heat down to medium-low and add the cinnamon and maple syrup. Stirring occasionally, cook the onions for 15 minutes. Remove the onions from the pan and set aside.
- Back bacon a.k.a. peameal bacon a.k.a. Canadian bacon: Using the same frying pan, turn the heat back up to medium-high and fry the strip bacon for 2 minutes on each side, or until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and set it aside to drain on a plate lined with paper towel.
- Again using the same pan (and the bacon grease!), turn the heat down to medium and cook the peameal bacon on the first side for 2 minutes. Flip the bacon and cook for another 5 minutes. In the pan, arrange the peameal bacon into 2 stacks of 3 and lay 2 slices of cheddar on top of each stack. Cover the pan and leave on the heat for 1 to 2 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.
- While the cheese is melting over the bacon, heat the canola oil in a small frying pan over medium-high heat. Crack the eggs into the pan and turn the heat down to medium. Cook the eggs sunny side up for about 5 minutes.
