TIKTOK FOOD TREND: FRENCH TOAST EGG SANDWICH



TikTok Food Trend: French Toast Egg Sandwich image

Get your sweet & savory fix with this take on the French Toast Omelet Sandwich TikTok Trend from Chef Ronnie Woo.

Provided by Chef Ronnie Woo

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 large eggs
2 tablespoons half-and-half or milk
1 teaspoon brown sugar
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
2 slices sandwich bread
1 slice sharp cheddar or American cheese
2 slices bacon
cooked
Hot sauce

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk the large eggs, half-and-half, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt until the sugar is dissolved
  • In a medium nonstick skillet over medium-low heat, melt the butter
  • Swirl it around the skillet, then pour the egg mixture into the skillet
  • Quickly dip the bread slices into the egg mixture, then flip the slices over and cook, undisturbed, until the egg mixture is cooked through, 4 to 5 minutes, checking periodically so it doesn't burn underneath
  • Using a spatula, flip the bread slices and eggs over in the pan, then fold in any egg onto the bread
  • Arrange the cheese and bacon on top of 1 slice of bread
  • Cook until the bread is crisp underneath and the cheese melts, 1 to 2 minutes more
  • Fold the other slice of bread over the toppings and serve warm
