Here's the very best cheese toast: you won't believe the flavor! This easy recipe is a great fast meal or snack: it takes only 5 minutes to make.

1 large slice bread (artisan, no knead, whole wheat, etc)
1/2 tablespoon mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 pinch kosher salt
1/3 cup shredded cheese (we used a mix of mozzarella, sharp cheddar, and Parmesan)
1 pinch dried oregano

Steps:

  • Preheat a broiler. Place the bread on a baking sheet and broil it 1 to 2 minutes per side, until lightly toasted.
  • Spread the bread with a thin coating of mayonnaise, then Dijon mustard. Top with 1 pinch salt. Add the shredded cheese and sprinkle with oregano.
  • Place the toast bake on the baking sheet. Broil again for about 1 to 2 minutes until the cheese is melted. Enjoy!

"You couldn't ask for anything more than a nutty crust topped with a smooth cream cheese mixture and sweet cherries," assures Kathy Branch of West Palm Beach, Florida. Since this dessert is made the night before, you don't have to worry about last-minute fuss.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
FILLING:
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 carton (12 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
2 cans (21 ounces each) cherry pie filling

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a small bowl, combine the flour, pecans and brown sugar. Stir in butter until crumbly. Lightly pat into an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Bake until golden brown, 18-20 minutes. Cool completely., For filling, in a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, confectioners' sugar and vanilla until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Carefully spread filling over crust. Top with pie filling. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons Spice Islands® Dill Weed
1/2 teaspoon Spice Islands® Garlic Powder
1/4 teaspoon Spice Islands® Celery Salt
1/8 teaspoon Spice Islands® Fine Grind Black Pepper
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
12 slices baguettes OR party rye bread
1/4 cup finely chopped tomato
2 green onions, finely chopped
2 tablespoons chopped black olives

Steps:

  • Combine mayonnaise, dill, garlic powder, celery salt, pepper and Parmesan cheese in a small bowl. Arrange bread slices on baking sheet in a single layer. Broil 6 to 8 inches from heat for 30 to 45 seconds or until lightly toasted. Turn slices over; spread with mayonnaise mixture. Broil 1 minute or until lightly browned. Top each with tomato, green onion and olives. Serve immediately.

2 cups grated Cheddar
2 cups grated Monterey Jack
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) butter, softened
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 crusty French loaf

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine the Cheddar, Monterey Jack, mayonnaise, Parmesan, butter, salt, pepper and seasoned salt.
  • Cut the loaf in half lengthwise, then into thirds or fourths. Evenly spread the cheese mixture onto the bread pieces. Wrap each piece in a foil "purse," leaving a little room at the top between the cheese and the foil.
  • The bread can either be frozen for later, or baked right away. If baking right away, place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes. If cooking from frozen, bake on a baking sheet at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes.

2 bulbs of garlic
6 ounces blue cheese
scallion
extra virgin olive oil
1 loaf bread, slices lightly toasted (or toasted miniature pita bread)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Remove all but a couple of layers of skin off the garlic (do not peel it down to the cloves).
  • Slice the tips of the cloves so flesh is just exposed.
  • Place garlic in a small baking dish (or a garlic roaster, if you have one).
  • Place a few sliced scallions around the garlic bulbs.
  • Coat garlic bulbs with olive oil with a thin layer of olive oil in the bottom of the dish.
  • Bake for about 45 minutes or until cloves are soft.
  • About 10 minutes before the garlic is done, place crumbled blue cheese around garlic cloves.
  • Stir around to coat with oil.
  • Return to oven and bake until melted.
  • Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
  • To eat, spread a bread slice with the blue cheese, squeeze on roasted garlic and spread.

¾ cup melted butter
1 ½ tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 ½ tablespoons poppy seeds
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
24 mini sandwich rolls
1 pound thinly sliced cooked deli ham
1 pound thinly sliced Swiss cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mix together butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and dried onion. Separate the tops from bottoms of the rolls, and place the bottom pieces into the prepared baking dish. Layer about half the ham onto the rolls. Arrange the Swiss cheese over the ham, and top with remaining ham slices in a layer. Place the tops of the rolls onto the sandwiches. Pour the mustard mixture evenly over the rolls.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the rolls are lightly browned and the cheese has melted, about 20 minutes. Slice into individual rolls through the ham and cheese layers to serve.

  • In a small bowl, cream the shortening, cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla.
