2020-06-15 Copy a mk262 mod 1 recipe. The 77gn smk is a real gem if the barrel will stabilize it. Federal match and a few others factory load the bullet. 20” barrels 1-9 twist works. AR- mini 14 barrels at 18” or less really need 1-8, 1-7 twist to get them stable. But yea a 55gn bullet should work for general work. Deer.

2015-05-20 I've always used both 4895 powders for my military bolt guns, but have heard it gives good results in the 223/5.56 caliber. Since reloading for my Mini-14 starting back in the mid 80's I've had excellent results with H335, BLC-2, Win 748, Acc 2230. I use a lot of Varget in my WW2 era bolt rifles, have been going to work up a load using it in 223.

This manual lists 23.9 grains of Varget as maximum with the 77 SMK in the AR-15 (20" barrel). The manual also lists 24.1/N140 as the accuracy load. I know lots of people shoot 24.0/Varget to get the most push for 600.
