The Best Belgian Waffles image

These waffles are super crisp on the outside, light as a feather inside and so scrumptious! Avoid removing them from the waffle iron too soon; they should be a golden brown. Enjoy!

2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Oil the waffle maker.
  • Sift the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
  • In separate bowl, separate egg whites and beat until stiff peaks form.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the egg yolks, milk, oil , and vanilla, stir slightly.
  • Add to dry ingredients and mix well.
  • Fold in egg whites.
  • Cook in waffle iron on medium-high heat for around 5-10 minutes.

1/4 cup coarsely ground coffee (French press setting)
1/4 cup chili powder
1/4 cup raw sugar
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
Pinch salt
4 ounces ground high-quality grass-fed beef, preferably Painted Hills
4 ounces mild good-quality ground pork country sausage, preferably Pine Street Market
1 ounce grated pepper jack cheese
Nonstick cooking spray, for the waffle iron
1/2 cup buttermilk waffle batter, or more as needed
2 slices sugar-cured thick-sliced bacon, cooked

Steps:

  • For the burger: Preheat a waffle maker according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Mix beef and sausage together in a bowl until thoroughly combined. Divide mixture in half and roll into balls, then place on a flat surface or cutting board. Using your hands, gently shape and press the balls into rectangular patties about the size of an index card and about 3/4-inch thick. Roll the grated cheese into a ball and place in the center of one of the patties. Cover with the other patty. Crimp edges with your fingers to ensure that both patties are sealed and cheese does not ooze out when grilling.
  • Preheat a grill or cast-iron pan to medium-high heat. On a plate or small dish, rub burger patty all over with 1 to 2 tablespoons coffee rub and place on grill. Using a steak weight, press burger and cook for 4 to 5 minutes. Remove weight, flip patty, and place weight back on burger. Cook until internal temperature registers 155 degrees F, another 4 to 5 minutes. Place patty on a plate or tray fitted with a rack and let rest while you prepare the waffle.
  • Spray waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray. Pour batter onto hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown.
  • Cut waffle in half horizontally, and then cut off the ends of each half.
  • Slather each side of waffle with maple aioli and place cooked patty on bottom half. Top with bacon slices and close with other waffle half. Enjoy, then take a nap!

I was bored one day and decided to try making a sweeter burger, so I instantaneously thought of waffles and syrup, then went from there to create this wonderful delight. Though not as sweet as originally intended it's still a wonderful addition to my cookbook.

2 toasted waffles
1 -2 tablespoon maple syrup
1 slice lettuce
3 slices pepperoni
1 slice American cheese
1 hamburger patty

Steps:

  • Prepare the burger in preffered manner.
  • Melt cheese on burger, or place it on after the burger is done.
  • When burger is nearing completion, toast your waffles, so both will finish at about the same time.
  • Pour half of the desired maple syrup measurement ontop of the bottom waffle.
  • Place lettuce on bottom waffle.
  • Place patty ontop.
  • Place the pepperoni slices evenly above the burger.
  • Pour the other half of the maple syrup ontop.
  • Top it off with the second waffle.
  • Enjoy.

20 ounces frozen waffle fries
1 pound ground beef
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 slices American or Cheddar cheese, quartered
4 baby Bibb lettuce leaves, torn into small pieces
8 teaspoons ketchup
8 teaspoons mayo
8 thin slices small red onion
8 slices Roma tomato
8 dill pickle slices

Steps:

  • For the fries: Bake the waffle fries according to the instructions on the package.
  • For the slider patties: Add the ground beef to a bowl and mix together with the garlic powder, lemon pepper, seasoned salt, salt and pepper. Mix together well with your hands and form eight 2-ounce patties. Set the patties aside on a plate.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes. Flip the patties and allow them to cook for 30 to 45 seconds, then top each patty with a quarter slice of cheese. Cover the skillet and cook for another 3 minutes. (The lid will help the cheese melt over the patties.)
  • Remove the patties to a plate.
  • For the sliders: Top a waffle fry with a piece of lettuce, then top with 1 teaspoon ketchup and 1 teaspoon mayo. Add red onion and a patty on top. Top the patty with a Roma tomato slice and then a pickle slice. Place a waffle fry on top and secure with a toothpick. Repeat 7 more times and enjoy!

Finished with burger sauce, bacon strips, pickle chips for a tangy crunch, and fresh iceberg lettuce, it's a mouthful of cheesy, meaty goodness.

6 cups Mac 'n' Cheese, prepared
6 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 teaspoon McCormick® Garlic Powder
1 teaspoon McCormick® Paprika
½ teaspoon onion powder
⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 large eggs, beaten
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup mayonnaise
¼ cup ketchup
2 tablespoons white onion, minced
1 tablespoon sweet relish
2 teaspoons white vinegar, distilled
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter
2 ½ tablespoons all purpose flour
1 ¼ cups whole milk
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
¾ teaspoon kosher salt
4 ground beef patties
kosher salt, to taste
freshly ground black pepper, to taste
8 slices pickle
2 cups iceberg lettuce
8 slices thick cut bacon, cooked

Steps:

  • Make the mac 'n' cheese waffles: In a large bowl, combine the mac 'n' cheese, flour, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, cayenne, salt, black pepper, eggs, and cheddar cheese. (If you are using cold mac 'n' cheese, microwave briefly to loosen up for easier mixing). Mix well to combine.
  • Heat the waffle iron to medium-high heat or 375°F (190°C).
  • Scoop ¾ cup of the mac 'n' cheese mixture into each of the waffle divots. Close the waffle iron and cook for 8-10 minutes, until the waffles are golden brown and crispy all over. Remove the waffles from the iron (cutting into individual waffles with kitchen shears for easier removal) and repeat with the remaining mac 'n' cheese mixture. You should have 8 waffles total.
  • Meanwhile, make the burger sauce: In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, onion, sweet relish, white vinegar, and salt. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Make the cheese sauce: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat until bubbling. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, until light golden brown, whisking continuously to prevent burning. Pour in the milk, whisking continuously to prevent clumping. Cook for 2-4 minutes, whisking occasionally to prevent burning, until slightly thickened and steaming. Remove the pot from the heat and whisk in the cheese and salt until melted and smooth.
  • Transfer the sauce to a 2-cup liquid measuring cup and use an immersion blender to blend until completely smooth. Set aside until ready to use.
  • Make the burgers: Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until smoking. Generously season the ground beef patties on both sides with salt and pepper. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, depending on your desired doneness.
  • Assemble the burgers: Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of the burger sauce onto a mac 'n' cheese waffle. Top with 2-4 pickle slices, ½ cup shredded lettuce, a burger patty, ¼-⅓ cup cheese sauce, 2 slices of bacon, and another mac 'n' cheese waffle. Repeat to make the remaining burgers.
  • Serve immediately.
  • Enjoy!
