An easy and perfect A1 Steak Sauce Copycat made in just 20 minutes and for so much less money! Made with raisins, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and balsamic vinegar.

1/2 cup water
1/4 cup golden raisins
1/2 cup aged balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup dijon mustard
1 pinch cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 garlic cloves (cut in half)
2 tablespoons onion (chopped)
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 orange (cut into 2 pieces)

Steps:

  • Add the ingredients (except for the orange juice) into a small saucepan.
  • Squeeze the oranges into the pan, then drop in the rinds.
  • On low heat, stirring occasionally, let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Careful to keep the heat low allowing for a very low gentle heat, not a hard boil.
  • To check doneness dip in a spoon and run your finger over the back, the line should stay clean.
  • Turn off the heat and strain out the garlic and orange pieces.
  • Let cool completely before serving.

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup gluten free Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup organic ketchup
1/4 cup dijon mustard
1/4 cup organic raisins
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 pinch cayenne pepper
2 cloves garlic (smashed)
1/8 large yellow onion (cut into chunks)
1 small navel orange (or 1/2 large orange, cut in half)

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, combine all ingredients except for the orange.
  • Squeeze the juice from the orange into the saucepan and then add in the juiced orange segments.
  • Bring to a boil, lower light to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. At 5 minutes, remove orange segments and discard.
  • Continue simmering, stirring occasionally, for another 10 minutes. Strain mixture through a fine mesh strainer (make sure to strain into a measuring cup or other container!).Use a spoon or spatula to push all the liquid out of the chunky bits.
  • Return sauce to pan and bring back to a simmer. Reduce, stirring occasionally, for an additional 5 to 7 minutes or until level of thickness is reached. Note that sauce tastes different when warm so let cool completely before adjusting spices. Enjoy!

Copycat Homemade A.1. Steak Sauce Recipe!

Number Of Ingredients 13

½ cup water
½ cup balsamic vinegar
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup ketchup
¼ cup. dijon mustard
¼ cup seedless (golden) raisins
½ teaspoon celery seed
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
½ tablespoon chili sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
⅛ large yellow onion, sliced
½ large orange

Steps:

  • Add all ingredients (except the orange) to a small pot. Cut orange in half and squeeze it into the mixture and then place them in the pot. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Grab a bowl and a mesh strainer and pout the mixture into the strainer (you don't want the big pieces or anything - you want a smooth liquid). Allow to cool and pour into a clean A-1 bottle or air-tight container. Store in fridge.

1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon bottled grated orange peel
2 tablespoons Heinz ketchup
2 tablespoons Heinz Chili Sauce

Steps:

  • 1. Bring to a boil for 2 minutes stirring.
  • 2. Remove from heat. Allow to cool to lukewarm.
  • 3. Put mixture in a blender till it is pureed. Pour in bottle.
  • 4. Cap tightly and refrigerate to use within 90 days.

I found this out while at a steak house in Toronto. The Canadian version is much sweeter and redder that the US version.

1/2 cup aged balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup Dijon mustard (no substitutes!)
1 pinch cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 garlic clove, cut in half but not crushed

Steps:

  • Put all ingredients into a small pan and bring to a low simmer.
  • Simmer over low heat for 15 minutes.
  • Strain into a bowl by pouring through a fine mesh strainer, pushing raisins with the back of a spoon to release all juices.
  • Allow to cool completely before seasoning to taste with salt and pepper. It tastes different when its hot.
  • Enjoy with your favorite steak!
