Za'atar Hummus image

Creamy homemade hummus topped with olive oil and Za'atar seasoning. This Za'atar Hummus is easy to make and the perfect dip for homemade crackers or veggie sticks! Makes approx. 2 cups of hummus.

17 oz canned chickpeas (rinsed and drained)
3 tablespoons tahini
3 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon olive oil
2 teaspoons za'atar

Steps:

  • Add the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, salt, and water to a blender (or food processor). Blend until completely smooth (you can add more water if the consistency is too thick).
  • Add the hummus to a bowl, top with a drizzle of olive oil and sprinkle with za'atar.

  • Rinse the chickpeas and place in a pot with double the amount of cold water. Add 1 teaspoon of bicarb and stir.
  • Bring to the boil, then lower the heat and cook for an hour. Skim off any scum from the surface and top up the boiling water if it runs low.
