- For the rim: Moisten the rim of the glasses with lime wedges and dip in the salt.
- For the margarita: Combine the tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur and agave syrup in a large pitcher. Stir vigorously to combine. Pour over ice in the salt-rimmed glasses, garnish with a slice of lime and serve immediately.
GATORADE MARGARITA
Any student, staff or alumnus from the University of Florida will be familiar with the famous sports drink invented at the school and named after the football team's mascot: the Gator. Make this to celebrate your college days (where you might have improvised a similar drink at the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party") -- it's surprisingly tasty and an orange-slice garnish tips it over the top.

- Mix the sugar and salt in a shallow dish. Wet the rims of 4 to 6 rocks glasses with water and then dip in the sugar-salt mixture to coat.
- Combine the sports drink, limeade concentrate, tequila and blue curacao in a large pitcher and stir. Fill the rocks glasses with ice, pour the margarita over and garnish each with an orange slice.
CARROT-PAPAYA SANGRITA

THE PERFECT MARGARITA
Mastering the margarita requires a certain amount of practice, but once you dial-in your perfect ratio, it's a really easy cocktail to replicate. The classic recipe is 3 parts tequila, 2 parts triple sec, and 1 part freshly squeezed lime juice, and you should probably start off pretty close to that, but my personal favorite proportions are 4-3-2.

- Moisten the rim of a glass with a lime wedge. Sprinkle salt onto a plate. Lightly dip the moistened rim into the salt. Place a large ice cube in the glass and freeze the prepared glass until ready to serve.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with fresh ice. Add tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Cover and shake vigorously until outside of the shaker has frosted. Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with a slice of lime.

ZAHANORITA - A CARROT MARGARITA!
One of my favorite restaurants near my house, Le Taq, serves these and I cant just have one. So lovely and refreshing and DIFFERENT. A pleasant shake-up from the traditional margarita with the same ability to pair wonderfully with Mexican or Tex-Mex food. ***There is a recipe for the cilantro simple syrup below but I've made it without and it still tastes good. It just tastes that much BETTER with it.

Steps:
- (1) SPREAD a little kosher salt on a small plate.
- (2) MOISTEN the outside rim of a chilled rocks glass with the lime wedge, and, holding the glass at an angle, roll the outside rim in the salt.
- (3) FILL the glass with ice.
- (4) FILL a cocktail shaker halfway with ice, and add tequila, carrot juice, lime juice, triple sec, cilantro syrup, and orange juice.
- (5) COVER and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds.
- (6) STRAIN into the glass, garnish with cumin, and serve immediately.
- *CILANTRO SYRUP.
- ½ cup granulated sugar.
- ½ cup water.
- 1 bunch fresh cilantro, stems included.
- (1) COMBINE sugar and water in a small saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
- (2) REMOVE from heat and add cilantro.
- (3) SET ASIDE to cool to room temperature, about 1 hour.
- (4) STRAIN mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a jar with a tight-fitting lid, discarding contents of the sieve.
- (5) REFRIGERATE until ready to use, up to 2 weeks.
