2 teaspoons butter, or as needed
8 slices white bread, cut into cubes
1 (16 ounce) package bulk spicy breakfast sausage
2 green onions, minced
1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
6 eggs, beaten
1 cup milk
½ cup shredded Gruyere cheese
½ cup shredded extra-sharp Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Grease an 8 1/2x11-inch baking dish with butter. Place the bread cubes in the baking dish.
  • Break the sausage into small pieces into a large skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir sausage until completely browned, 5 to 7 minutes. Add green onions; toss once and remove skillet from heat. Drain as much grease as possible from the skillet. Spread sausage and green onion mixture over bread cubes.
  • Stir cream of mushroom soup and 1/2 cup milk together in a bowl; pour over the layer of sausage in the baking dish.
  • Whisk eggs and milk together in a bowl; pour over the sausage. Top with Gruyere and Cheddar cheese. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and refrigerate 8 hours to overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Bake uncovered in preheated oven until the middle is set, about 1 hour.

1 pound Italian sausage
2 onions, chopped
1 (28 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes with juice
6 cups chicken broth
2 teaspoons dried basil
2 cups bow tie pasta
½ teaspoon garlic salt
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped carrots
1 ½ cups shredded cabbage

Steps:

  • In a soup pot, cook sausage over medium heat until no pink remains.
  • Add onions, celery, and carrots. Cook uncovered for 5 minutes, or until onions are soft.
  • Add tomatoes, chicken broth, cabbage, and basil. Bring to a boil. Stir in macaroni, and cover. Simmer for 10 minutes, or until pasta is tender. Season with garlic salt. Serve.

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 tablespoons olive oil
3 1/2-inch-thick French bread slices (each about 3 x 5 inches)
2 tablespoons minced garlic
3 14 1/2-ounce cans low-salt chicken broth
10 ounces fully cooked smoked garlic sausage (such as kielbasa or linguiça), thinly sliced into rounds
1 cup drained canned garbanzo beans (chickpeas)
2 teaspoons paprika
6 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 large egg, beaten to blend

Steps:

  • Heat 2 tablespoons oil in heavy large pot over low heat. Add bread. Cook until brown, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer bread to paper towels and cool. Cut into 1/2-inch croutons.
  • Heat remaining 2 tablespoons oil in same pot over medium heat. Add garlic and stir 30 seconds. Add broth, sausage, garbanzo beans and paprika. Bring soup to simmer. Mix in parsley and egg; stir constantly to break egg into strands as it cooks. Season with salt and pepper. Ladle into bowls. Top with croutons.

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in heavy large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add turkey sausage and chopped garlic and sauté until sausage is golden brown and cooked through, breaking up sausage with back of fork, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium. Add tomatoes with their juices, sliced jalapeño chili, ground cumin and chopped fresh rosemary and simmer 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
