Steps:
- For the apples: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch glass baking dish with butter.
- Arrange the apple slices in the prepared baking dish in an even layer. In a bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Sprinkle the mixture over the apples, then pour 1/2 cup water over top.
- For the topping: In a separate bowl, mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and a pinch of salt. Stir while drizzling in the melted butter. Sprinkle the topping in an even layer over the apples.
- Bake until the topping is slightly crisp and golden brown, about 43 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature on its own, with ice cream or with frozen custard.
AWESOME ALMOND APPLE CRISP
This apple crisp can be in the oven in less than 30 minutes and emerges bubbling, crisp and the perfect landing place for a scoop of ice cream. My topping typically has rolled oats, but this time I wanted the toasted almonds to be the clear star, so I used oat flour instead of the old fashioned oats and all-purpose flour, making this crisp entirely gluten-free (and vegan).

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, mix together the oat flour, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon and butter.
- Using a pastry blender, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles cornmeal (it will stick together when squeezed in your hand). Mix in crushed almonds.
- In a large bowl, toss together the apples, sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon.
- Arrange the apples in a baking dish. I used an 8-inch Round Pan (measured along the bottom), but this will also fit in a 9-inch square baking dish. Cover loosely with the almond crisp topping and bake for about 1 hour or until bubbling on the sides and the apples are tender when poked with a knife. This will take more or less time, depending on the pan you use.
- Serve with ice cream, if desired! I served mine with cranberry swirl ice cream.
MOM'S APPLE CRISP
Mom found this recipe in a bridal book years ago, and it soon became a family favorite. With tender juicy apples and a hint of cinnamon, it is yummy served plain or with a dollop of whipped cream or ice cream.

APPLE CRISP - PERFECT AND EASY
I adapted this from a 50-year-old peach crisp recipe. Although it works well with peaches, it works even better with fresh, crisp cooking apples.

GRANDMA'S OLD-FASHIONED APPLE CRISP
Simple, old-fashioned apple crisp. If you want something simple and homemade on hand, you can double the filling recipe (I use a 5-pound bag of Granny Smith apples) and freeze half of it.

- Apple Cake with Honey Cider Glaze. Apple season falls right around Rosh Hashanah, a time to celebrate the Jewish new year with family and friends. This apple cake with honey cider glaze will quickly become an old family tradition for the holiday.
- Swirled Apple Tarte Tatin. This tarte tatin was inspired by William Lanagnère, a pastry chef in Paris who took the rustic French classic and turned it into something beyond elegant.
- Apple Almond Galette with Cranberry Ice Cream and Candied Cranberries. This Apple Almond Galette is just an apple pie without the plate or a top crust. So, it’s even easier to make than pie and, I think, just as beautiful in a fruit forward, rustic way.
- Apple Butter Rose Tart. For this apple butter rose tart I used a vegetable turner to slice the apples as thin as possible. The ruffles that formed as the apples passed through the turner reminded me of fabric and I loved the effect so much that I just gathered the apple as it fell and piled it into the center of the tart.
- Apple Tarte Tatin with Quick Phyllo Crust. Apple Tarte Tatin is a quintessentially French dessert. I think it is stunningly beautiful with its rich caramel apples and flaky pastry peeking out from under them.
- Applesauce. What could be better than picking your own apples and making baked goods and applesauce with your bounty? When making applesauce, I like to use a variety of apples, so the sauce has a mix of tart, sweet, firm, and softer apples.
- Awesome Almond Apple Crisp. This apple crisp can be in the oven in less than 30 minutes and emerges bubbling, crisp and the perfect landing place for a scoop of ice cream.
- Applesauce Galette. To make this delicious galette I spread a layer of the applesauce on pie dough, cover it in sliced apple, fold up the crust and finish it with lemon sugar.
