Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Cream sugar and butter. Add flour, vanilla and nut meats. Roll a small piece between your hands and form into small crescents. (2 1/2 inches) Bake 20 to 25 minutes. When cool, roll in powdered sugar. These are better the second day.

1 cup (110 grams) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (40 grams) hazelnut flour
Pinch fine salt
7 tablespoons (100 grams) unsalted butter, softened
3 tablespoons (40 grams) granulated sugar
1 vanilla bean
1 large egg yolk
Confectioners' sugar, for dusting

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, hazelnut flour and salt. Beat the butter and granulated sugar with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until creamy. Split the vanilla bean, scrape out the seeds using the back of a thin knife and add to the butter with the egg yolk. Beat until combined. Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined.
  • Roll the batter into a 12-inch log, wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Cut the log into 18 pieces and roll each piece into a crescent shape. Put the crescents on the lined baking sheets, about 1 inch apart. Bake until the cookies are set and the bottoms and edges are browned, about 14 minutes. Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes. Dust with confectioners' sugar while warm, and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

1 16 ounce package deli roast beef (sliced thin)
16 slices provolone cheese
1 1 ounce packet Au Just gravy mix

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Unroll crescents onto a large ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Place a slice of roast beef and a piece of cheese on each crescent.
  • Roll crescents starting from the wide end and ending at the narrow end.
  • Bake for 13 to 15 minutes, until crescents are a golden color.
  • Prepare the Au Jus gravy as directed on package.
  • Serve with Au Jus for dipping.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped walnuts
3 tablespoons ice water
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons white sugar
2 cups confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • If using butter it must be cold. Mix butter with flour until it resembles fine crumbs. Add white sugar, nuts, and salt. Mix well, adding ice water till you make stiff dough.
  • Add vanilla extract and knead lightly. Roll out on floured board 1/4 inch thick.
  • Cut into crescent shapes using a whiskey glass coated with flour.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) until bottoms are lightly browned. While hot, roll in confectioner's sugar, (I usually use a brown bag or baggie bag to roll the cookies in with the powdered sugar).

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup margarine
1 egg yolk
¾ cup sour cream
¼ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Combine flour and butter in large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
  • In a separate bowl beat egg yolk and sour cream together with spoon. Add to flour mixture. Mix together well. Chill covered in refrigerator at least 4 hours. If you make this in the evening, store overnight.
  • Stir sugar and cinnamon together to use instead of flour for rolling dough. Sprinkle some over working surface. Roll about 1/4-1/3 of dough into circle about 10 inches in diameter, sprinkling with sugar-cinnamon mixture on both sides as needed both to roll and for taste. Cut in 16 pie shape wedges. Beginning at outer wide edge, roll toward center. Arrange on ungreased baking sheet close together, not touching.
  • Bake in a preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until browned.

1 cup powdered sugar
4 cups flour
1 cup ground almonds
1 pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup finely chopped pistachios

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Mix butter and sugar in large bowl with wooden spoon until blended. Gradually add flour, stirring after each addition until blended. Stir in nuts.
  • Shape into 2-inch crescents, using 1 Tbsp. dough for each. Place, 2 inches apart, on parchment- or foil-covered baking sheets.
  • Bake 12 to 15 min. or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 2 min. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
  • Melt chocolate as directed on package. Dip one end of each cookie in chocolate; top with nuts. Return to wire racks; let stand until chocolate is firm.
