AIR FRYER CHILI GARLIC TOFU



Air Fryer Chili Garlic Tofu image

Air Fryer Chili Garlic Tofu is air fried until crispy and then coated in a spicy, sweet and tangy sauce. Serve over rice or quinoa or make it into a wrap.

1 package super firm tofu
1/2 cup cornstarch, arrowroot, or tapioca
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 1/2 tablespoons swerve or brown sugar
2 garlic cloves, (minced)
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
2 green onions, (sliced)

Steps:

  • Wrap tofu in multiple layers of paper towels. Place a cast iron pan or something heavy on top. Let sit for 30 minutes. Or you can use a tofu press.
  • Cut tofu into cubes.
  • Place cornstarch in a large zip top bag. Shake to coat. Remove tofu pieces, shaking off excess and place in a medium bowl. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil and gently toss.
  • Place half the tofu pieces in the Air Fryer basket. Set to 370 for 15 minutes. Halfway through open. If they still look powdery, spray them with a little olive oil. Check after about 12 minutes. The cooking time is just an estimate and can vary based on Air Fryer model and size of cubes and brand of tofu.
  • Remove tofu from Air Fryer and set aside. Repeat with remaining tofu.
  • In a nonstick skillet, combine soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, vinegar, sverve, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a boil and simmer for 1 minute.
  • Add sesame oil and tofu and cook and stir for 1 minute.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.

These crispy tofu bites are great as a snack, a topping for a salad, or added to a stir-fry. You may have to cook these in two batches, depending on the size of your air fryer.

8 ounces firm tofu
1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce (such as Bragg®)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large clove garlic, finely chopped
½ teaspoon sesame oil

Steps:

  • Place tofu onto a plate lined with several paper towels. Cover with more paper towels and another plate. Set a 3- to 5-pound weight on top and press tofu for 30 minutes; drain and discard any accumulated liquid and cut tofu into 1/2-inch cubes.
  • Combine soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, and sesame oil in a small bowl; mix well. Add tofu cubes and marinate for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Preheat an air fryer to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Place tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fry for 5 minutes without shaking the fryer. Continue air frying, shaking occasionally, until browned, about 10 more minutes.

Spicy green bean recipe made simple in the air fryer. My flavor combination was inspired by a famous dish at a restaurant chain.

12 ounces fresh green beans, trimmed
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
1 clove garlic, minced
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Preheat an air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Place green beans in a bowl. Whisk together sesame oil, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a separate bowl and pour over green beans. Toss to coat and let marinate for 5 minutes.
  • Place half the green beans in the air fryer basket. Cook 12 minutes, shaking basket halfway through cooking time. Repeat with remaining green beans.
