OVEN POT ROAST
This is so easy and tastes great. It makes wonderful gravy while it's cooking.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and black pepper to taste. Dredge the rump roast in the flour and cover evenly. Shake off excess.
- In a large pot over medium/high heat, melt the butter and brown the roast on all sides. Place in a 4 quart casserole dish with lid.
- In a small bowl, combine the soup mix, mushroom soup, and vermouth or white wine; pour over roast.
- Cover and bake in preheated oven for 3 hours or until desired doneness.

EASY POT ROAST

- Season beef with salt and pepper. Place carrots, potatoes, and onion in a slow cooker. Season with salt and pepper. Add bay leaf and thyme. Place meat on top of vegetables. Add soup. Cover, and cook on low heat for 8 hours (or high for 6 hours).
- Remove meat to a cutting board. Transfer vegetables to a platter. Slice meat, and add to platter. Pour sauce into a liquid measuring cup and skim fat. Taste, and adjust for seasoning. Pour sauce over meat and vegetables, and serve.

My step-daughters always refused to eat venison, so we had to come up with creative ways to disguise it. This very tender and savory slow cooker pot roast always had them coming back for more. It wasn't until years later we revealed the truth of the roast's origins! Serve roast, vegetables and gravy over mashed potatoes.

- Arrange the onions, carrots, and mushrooms in the bottom of a slow cooker. Rub the venison rump roast with garlic, black pepper, and salt, then place on top of the vegetables. Mix the cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, water, and onion gravy mix in a bowl until gravy mix is dissolved; pour soup mixture over the roast.
- Cook on High setting until roast is very tender, 8 to 10 hours. Slice roast before serving with gravy and vegetables.

- Place potatoes and carrots in slow cooker. Place browned meat on top of vegetables.
