Here's what you need: cocktail frank, pizza dough, water, baking soda, egg, sea salt

1 package cocktail frank, mini hot dogs
1 lb pizza dough, 1 ball
5 cups water
¼ cup baking soda
1 egg, beaten
sea salt, to taste

Steps:

  • Bring pizza dough to room temperature.
  • Cut the dough into strips and stretch/roll out.
  • Roll up mini hotdogs in pizza dough so the dough wraps around twice - leaving the ends sticking out and cutting off any excess.
  • Place on a lightly greased baking sheet until ready to boil.
  • Bring water to a light boil. Add in Baking Soda.
  • Once dissolved, boil wrapped hot dogs in water mixture for 20-30 seconds each (working in small batches).
  • Remove and place back on baking tray. Brush each lightly with beaten egg and sprinkle with sea salt.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 425˚F (220˚C) for 15-20 minutes until the dough is nicely browned.
  • Enjoy!

Bacon-wrapped pretzels. I have done these with brown sugar coating and completely without coating with good results. For extra indulgence, serve with warm chocolate sauce for dipping.

1 cup brown sugar, or more to taste
3 tablespoons red chili powder
1 pinch cayenne pepper, or more to taste
1 (12 ounce) package thinly sliced bacon
1 (15 ounce) package short pretzel rods

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and top with a wire rack.
  • Mix brown sugar, chili powder, and cayenne pepper together in a bowl. Dredge both sides of each bacon slice in the brown sugar mixture. Wrap a coated bacon slice around each pretzel rod, leaving a small space at the bottom of pretzel uncovered for easy handling. Arrange wrapped pretzels on the wire rack atop the baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until bacon is crisp, 15 to 20 minutes.

2 (3 ounce) packages prosciutto

Steps:

  • Take 1 slice of prosciutto and wrap it around the pretzel stick, starting at the bottom and winding it up to the top of the pretzel stick.
  • Do this until you finish the whole package of pretzels.
  • Variation:.
  • You can also wrap 1 thin slice of cheddar cheese or any type of cheese around the pretzel then wrap 1 thin slice of prosciutto around the cheese.
  • Serve and enjoy.
  • Note: Serve right away so the pretzels don't get soggy. Do not make these the night before.
