6 cups apple (peeled, cored, finely chopped (about 3 large apples))
1 cup caramel ice cream topping
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups walnuts
15.25 ounces yellow cake mix ((1 box, do not prepare))
1/2 cup melted unsalted butter ((or more see notes))

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 13x9-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  • Pour apples into a single layer into prepared pan. Drizzle caramel on top of apples. Sprinkle cinnamon on top then spoon walnuts on top in even layer.
  • Sprinkle cake mix on top so that apple mixture is completely covered. Drizzle melted butter on top. (Add more butter if necessary to cover all dry spots, see notes at bottom.)
  • Bake dump cake at 350 degrees F for 45-60 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or cold. Store in refrigerator.

21 oz can apple pie filling
6 oz caramel sauce (1/2 most jars)
1 box yellow cake mix (swap for spice cake mix if you prefer)
1 cup melted unsalted butter (2 sticks of butter)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and coat an 8 x 11 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Dump the canned apples into the baking dish and spread out.
  • Drizzle the caramel sauce over the apples, spread out with a spoon if there are clumps of caramel bits.
  • Next, dump the dry cake mix over the layers of apple filling and caramel. Spread the mix out to cover the wet ingredients.
  • Pour the melted butter over the cake mix layer, Distribute as evenly as you can, but don't fuss over it. The point of this recipe is it keep it super easy.
  • Bake for 40 to 50 minutes until golden brown at edges.
  • Serve warm. Top the cake with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream if you like. Pretty much anything that would be good with apple pie works well with this dessert.

2 (20 oz) cans apple pie filling (or 5 cups Homemade Apple Pie Filling)
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, optional
1 1/2 cups caramel squares, sliced in half
1 box yellow cake mix
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) melted butter
Caramel Sauce
Vanilla Ice Cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 13×9 casserole dish and set aside.
  • In a medium sized bowl, mix together apple pie filling, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour into the casserole dish and smooth with a spatula.
  • Arrange carmael squares on top of apple filling layer and then top with yellow cake mix. Smooth cake mix into an even layer.
  • Pour melted butter evenly on top of the cake mix. You can add more cinnamon on top of the butter if you would like (I do!).
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until the top is lightly browned and the edges are bubbling.
  • Scoop into serving bowls and top with ice cream and caramel sauce, if desired.

16 ounces caramel apple dip ((Marzetti brand works well))
1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 ounces)
1 cup salted butter (melted (2 sticks))
1 cup finely chopped pecans
vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375º Fahrenheit.
  • Spray a 9x13 baking pan with cooking spray.
  • Spread the apple pie filling evenly in the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • Heat the caramel dip for 30 seconds in the microwave. Use a knife to mix the caramel. Heat for another 20-30 seconds or until the caramel is softened. It just needs to be soft enough to dollop over the apples.
  • Dollop spoonfuls of caramel dip evenly over the apples.
  • Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the caramel and apples.

I have tried several variations of dump cake and made up my own one day when I needed some comfort! ;) This one is by far the favorite of anyone I have served it to. I make several different flavors and fillings at work potlucks and since I made this one, that is all everyone requests! Once you make it, you'll know why, just make sure you have your favorite vanilla ice cream on hand to go along with it. :)

2 (21 ounce) cans apple pie filling
1 (1 lb) box yellow cake mix
1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
caramel ice cream topping

Steps:

  • Pour both cans of Apple Pie Filling into a 13X9 glass cake pan.
  • Add cinnamon and stir.
  • Depending on what type of caramel topping you have, you may have to heat it in the microwave to get it to pour. Once it is ready to pour (some come in the squeezable and they are ready to go as is), then drizzle in a checkerboard fasion all over the pie filling, first up and down, then side to side.
  • Sprinkle Dry Cake Mix over the top of the pie filling.
  • Cut small slices of butter and place randomly all over on top of dry cake mix, ensuring that most areas are evenly covered.
  • Bake at 350 for about a 30 minutes, watch it, when it is brown and bubbly it is ready to go.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzle more hot caramel over ice cream and dessert.
