Baked Salmon with Ginger Soy Marinade image

This Asian Baked Salmon Recipe is tender, flavorful, and only takes 15 minutes to cook. Asian Baked Salmon is the perfect weeknight meal to feel great about.

Provided by Chew Out Loud

Categories     Dinner     fish     Main Dish     seafood

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 1/2 pounds whole salmon fillet (with skin on bottom)
4 TB Asian rice vinegar
4 TB regular strength soy sauce
2 TB pure honey
2 TB Asian sesame oil
6 cloves garlic (minced)
1 TB freshly grated ginger
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
2 stalks green onions (thinly sliced)

Steps:

  • Prep ahead: In a bowl, use a hand whisk to mix together the Asian rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey, Asian sesame oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and green onions. This can be done up to a day ahead and kept chilled until ready to use.
  • Use paper towels to thoroughly dry salmon fillet on all sides, removing as much excess moisture as you possibly can. Place salmon in a large glass baking dish. Very slowly, pour marinade over the salmon, ensuring salmon is thoroughly coated. Cover and chill overnight (at minimum, marinate for several hours.)
  • Remove salmon from fridge and let rest at room temp while oven preheats to 350F, with rack on middle position. Transfer salmon to a large rimmed baking sheet. Salmon should be skin-side down. Evenly distribute marinade over salmon. Bake 10 minutes (if your salmon is extra thick, or very cold, you may bake an additional 3-5 minutes.)
  • Remove the salmon from oven, move rack to upper position, and place salmon back on rack. Broil on high for about 5 minutes, watching carefully so salmon doesn't burn. It should reach a nicely browned color on top. Remove salmon from heat, let rest a few minutes at room temperature, and serve warm.

ASIAN GRILLED SALMON

Asian Grilled Salmon image

Ina Garten's Asian Grilled Salmon, from Barefoot Contessa on Food Network, is a light, quick main dish with salty-sharp flavors like Dijon and soy sauce.

Provided by Ina Garten

Categories     main-dish

Time 34m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 side fresh salmon, boned but skin on (about 3 pounds)
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons good soy sauce
6 tablespoons good olive oil
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic

Steps:

  • Light charcoal briquettes in a grill and brush the grilling rack with oil to keep the salmon from sticking.
  • While the grill is heating, lay the salmon skin side down on a cutting board and cut it crosswise into 4 equal pieces. Whisk together the mustard, soy sauce, olive oil, and garlic in a small bowl. Drizzle half of the marinade onto the salmon and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
  • Place the salmon skin side down on the hot grill; discard the marinade the fish was sitting in. Grill for 4 to 5 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish. Turn carefully with a wide spatula and grill for another 4 to 5 minutes. The salmon will be slightly raw in the center, but don't worry; it will keep cooking as it sits.
  • Transfer the fish to a flat plate, skin side down, and spoon the reserved marinade on top. Allow the fish to rest for 10 minutes. Remove the skin and serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled.

ASIAN MARINADE FOR SALMON

Asian Marinade for Salmon image

A great marinade for salmon filets using delicious Asian flavors of ginger, soy, sesame and honey.Makes enough marinade for 6-7 individual salmon filets or a large whole salmon filet.

Provided by Susie Weinrich

Categories     Sauce

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 9

Fresh Salmon
1/3 cup (scant) Soy sauce
1/4 cup Honey
2 tsp toasted sesame oil
2 tsp fresh ginger (grated or minced)
2 tsp unseasoned rice vinegar
2 large garlic cloves (minced )
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (more for spicier salmon and sauce)
toasted sesame seeds, green onions, lime wedges, cliantro

Steps:

  • Mix all the marinade ingredient together.
  • Place in a shallow glass container or plastic baggie (Ziplock).
  • Lay the salmon in the marinade, flesh side down if you are using skin on salmon. Spoon the marinade over the fish to coat.
  • Let marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temp.- individual salmon filets can marinate for 30 minutes up to an hour.- whole salmon filet can marinate for up to 2 hours.I do not reccommend exceed 4 hours as the salmon will begin to break down and become mushy.
  • Pull the salmon out of the marinade.RESERVE THE REMAINING MARINADE, it makes a delicious serving sauce (see directions below)!
  • Cook the salmon in your preffered method. (oven, stove top, foil, grill, air fryer...)

1/3 cup soy sauce
1/2 lime, juice of
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely minced
1 garlic clove, finely minced
4 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon honey
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
1 lb linguine (can use any long pasta)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

1 small onion, halved then thinly sliced
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 tablespoon ginger, finely chopped
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup vegetable broth or 1/2 cup chicken broth

Steps:

  • Ginger-Soy Salmon: Place the salmon in a shallow baking dish or large pie plate. Whisk together all of the remaining ingredients but only 2 tablespoons of the vegetable oil. Pour the mixture over the salmon and turn the salmon to coat. Let marinate in the refrigerator for 20 - 30 minutes, turning once. Note: Can place fish in ziplock bag with marinade and massage to coat evenly.
  • Preheat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Cook the salmon for 3-4 minutes per side. Serve each piece of salmon atop Asian-Style Noodles.
  • Asian-Style Noodles: Cook the pasta 1 minute shy of the package directions.
  • In the meantime, heat a large skillet or wok over med-high heat. Add the vegetable oil until it starts to smoke. Add the bell peppers and snap peas until they start to brown a little, about 2 minutes. Add the carrots and onion and cook 2 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium and add the garlic and ginger and cook one minute, stirring constantly so the garlic doesn't burn. Add the soy sauce and vegetable broth and let cook another 2 minutes. Add the pasta and cook another 2 minutes. Divide among four plates or shallow bowls, top with Asian-Marinated Salmon.

ASIAN GINGER MARINADE SALMON

Asian Ginger Marinade Salmon image

Cooking meat and seafood on a wooden plank is a simple technique that will give your meat additional flavour. Broil King offers cedar, maple, and oak wine barrel grilling planks. Just soak the plank in water, juice, or beer for an hour and pat it dry. Place the seasoned meat on the plank and then onto a medium low-temperature grill. Here is a recipe from the grilling experts at Broil King that will let you test out the technique:

Provided by Mary Jenny

Categories     Very Low Carbs

Time 40m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

6 lbs salmon fillets, skin on
1 untreated cedar plank, sized to accommodate salmon fillet
1/4 cup white wine
1 orange, finely grated zest and juice
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon ginger, grated
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon asian chili sauce

Steps:

  • To begin with, soak a cedar plank in a container of water for at least an hour. You may need to place a weight on top to keep the wood immersed.
  • Meanwhile, combine ingredients for marinade in a large, flat shallow glass dish and marinate the salmon fillets, skin-on, in the refrigerator for half an hour. Preheat barbecue on HIGH for 10 minutes.
  • Pat dry plank and oil the upper side. Place plank directly on the grids and heat with the lid closed until the plank begins to smoke. Place the salmon, skin side down in the middle of the plank and grill until just opaque at the thickest part. A 6 lb. fillet may take 30 minutes.

  • Place a rack in the center of your oven and preheat to 425 degrees F. Place a large cast-iron skillet or other sturdy, ovenproof skillet on a burner set to high and heat for at least 10 minutes. You want the pan screaming hot or the salmon will stick to it.
  • In a small saucepan, stir together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium high, then remove from heat and stir in the honey and chili paste. Remove a few spoonfuls of the cooked glaze in a separate bowl for serving.
  • Drizzle the salmon with the olive oil and brush so that it is evenly coated. Place the salmon skin-side up on the hot skillet. Let cook for about 3 minutes, totally undisturbed, until the salmon forms a nice crust. When the salmon turns opaque on the sides and starts to turn opaque on top, use a flexible spatula to flip the salmon so that it is skin-side down. Brush or spoon the remaining glaze in the saucepan all over the top. Place the skillet immediately into the oven and let cook for 6 minutes (the salmon will appear a little undercooked in the center but will finish cooking as it rests). Remove from the oven and cover with foil. Let rest 4 to 5 minutes. Serve immediately, topped with reserved glaze, chopped green onion, and sesame seeds.
