Asian Salad Dressing image

This Asian salad dressing is delicious in a salad or on stir-fried vegetables. It will last, sealed in a Mason jar, in the refrigerator for about six weeks. A tablespoon of ground ginger may be used in place of fresh. -Judy Batson, Tampa, Florida

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons minced fresh gingerroot
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in a jar with a tight-fitting lid; shake well. Refrigerate until serving. Shake dressing again just before serving.

2 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles, crushed
1 cup blanched slivered almonds
2 teaspoons sesame seeds
½ cup butter, melted
1 head napa cabbage, shredded
1 bunch green onions, chopped
¾ cup vegetable oil
¼ cup distilled white vinegar
½ cup white sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce

Steps:

  • In a medium skillet over low heat brown ramen noodles, almonds, and sesame seeds with melted butter or margarine. Once browned, take off heat and cool.
  • In a small saucepan bring vegetable oil, sugar, and vinegar to boil for 1 minute. Cool. Add soy sauce.
  • In a large bowl, combine shredded napa cabbage and chopped green onions. Add the noodle and soy sauce mixture. Toss to coat. Serve.

Number Of Ingredients 13

3 ounces rice vinegar
1 ounce Kikkoman soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 garlic clove, pressed
2 teaspoons sugar
7 ounces vegetable oil
romaine lettuce or lettuce
carrot, peeled and cut into slivers
celery, slivered
bean sprouts
red peppers or green pepper, sliced
chopped peanuts or cashews, toasted
sesame seeds, toasted

Steps:

  • Mix dressing ingredients in a jar and shake.
  • Wash and tear lettuce into a bowl, add carrots, peppers, celery to bowl and toss.
  • Put dressing and bowl on table with bean sprouts, nuts and sesame seeds in individual bowls and tell your guests to create their own salad.

8 ounces spaghetti, broken in half
4 teaspoons oriental sesame oil
1 cup shredded carrot
1/2 red bell pepper, very thinly sliced
1 cup matchstick-size strips peeled jicama
1 cup (packed) spinach leaves (about 1 ounce), thinly sliced
3 tablespoons thick teriyaki marinade
3 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon minced garlic

Steps:

  • Cook spaghetti in large pot of boiling salted water until just tender but still firm to bite. Drain; rinse with cold water and drain well. Place spaghetti in large bowl; add 1 teaspoon sesame oil and toss to blend. Add carrot, bell pepper, jicama and spinach to bowl.
  • Whisk next 4 ingredients and remaining 3 teaspoons sesame oil in small bowl to blend. Season dressing with salt and pepper. Add dressing to salad and toss to combine.
  • Divide salad among bowls and serve.

  • Tear the spinach into bite-size pieces and toss in a large bowl with the bean sprouts, clementines, and mushrooms.
  • Whisk together the oil, soy sauce, and garlic powder in a small bowl. Pour over the spinach mixture, toss, and let stand for about 5 minutes to let the flavors blend.

1 (15 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
1 (16 ounce) bag mixed salad greens, of your choice
2 cups chow mein noodles
1 cup sliced almonds
2 cups cooked soybeans
2 cups pre-cooked sliced chicken breasts

Steps:

  • In sauce pan heat water to boiling and add in frozen soy beans, cook as directed on package. While soybeans are cooking toss together remaining ingredients. Run soy beans under cold water and then add to salad mixture. Toss until well combined and then serve with your favorite dressing.
