CHILI BACON "CINNAMON ROLLS" RECIPE BY TASTY



Chili Bacon

Here's what you need: nonstick cooking spray, bacon bits, mild chili powder, all-purpose flour, crescent roll dough, butter, béchamel sauce

nonstick cooking spray, for greasing
⅓ cup bacon bits
1 tablespoon mild chili powder
all-purpose flour, for dusting
8 oz crescent roll dough, 1 tube
¼ cup butter, melted
1 cup béchamel sauce, for drizzling

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350˚F (180˚C). Grease a 9-inch (23-cm) round baking pan with nonstick spray.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the bacon bits and chili powder.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the crescent roll dough to a 12x6-inch (30x15 cm) rectangle.
  • Brush the dough with the melted butter
  • Sprinkle the bacon bits over the dough, leaving 1 inch (2 cm) of a long end empty for rolling. Starting with the other long end, roll into a tube.
  • Slice the tube into 7 pieces and place in the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the rolls are light golden brown.
  • Drizzle with béchamel sauce to mimic icing.

2 cups whole milk, warm
½ cup granulated sugar
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
5 cups all purpose flour, divided, plus more for dusting
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened, for greasing the pan
¾ cup light brown sugar
1 ½ sticks unsalted butter, sofeted
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
14 strips cooked bacon
½ cup maple syrup
4 oz cream cheese, cubed and softened
½ cup powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Make the dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the warm milk, granulated sugar, and melted butter. The mixture should be just warm, registering between 100-110°F (37-43°C). If any warmer, let cool slightly.
  • Sprinkle the yeast evenly over the milk mixture, whisk to incorporate, and let sit in a warm place for about 10 minutes, until foamy.
  • Add 4 cups (500 G) of flour to the milk mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until just combined.
  • Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until nearly doubled in size.
  • Meanwhile, make the filling: In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  • Generously grease a 9-inch (22 cm) round baking pan with the softened butter and set aside.
  • Uncover the dough and add the remaining cup of flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir well to incorporate.
  • Turn the dough out onto a clean surface. Leave a bit of flour nearby to use as needed, but try not to incorporate too much. Knead the dough for at least 10 minutes, adding more flour as necessary, until the dough just loses its stickiness. The dough should be very smooth and spring back when poked.
  • Roll the dough out into a 14-inch (35 cm) square about ½-inch (1 ¼ cm) thick. Square the corners with a bench scraper or a spatula to make sure they are sharp and even.
  • Spread the filling evenly over the dough.
  • Slice the dough lengthwise into 7 pieces that are 2 inches (5 cm) wide.
  • Place 2 strips of bacon on each piece of dough. Starting from one short end, roll up each strip of dough and pinch the seam closed.
  • Place the cinnamon rolls in the prepared pan, 1 in the center and 6 around the sides. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place for 35-45 minutes, until expanded by about half of their original volume.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • Bake the cinnamon rolls for 35-40 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oven and let cool for about 10 minutes.
  • While the cinnamon rolls are baking, make the icing: In a small pot, cook the maple syrup over medium-high until reduced by half, about 5 minutes. Remove the pot from heat and let cool slightly, about 5 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the reduced maple syrup, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Drizzle the icing over the cinnamon rolls, using the back of a spoon to spread if desired.

Steps:

  • Place bacon in a shallow dish; add bourbon. Seal and refrigerate overnight. Remove bacon and pat dry; discard bourbon., In a large skillet, cook bacon in batches over medium heat until nearly crisp but still pliable. Remove to paper towels to drain. Discard all but 1 teaspoon drippings., Preheat air fryer to 350°. Separate dough into 8 rolls, reserving icing packet. Unroll spiral rolls into long strips; pat dough to form 6x1-in. strips. Place 1 bacon strip on each strip of dough, trimming bacon as needed; reroll, forming a spiral. Pinch ends to seal. Repeat with remaining dough. 1 cup warm whole milk (110° to 115°)
1/4 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2-3/4 to 3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
FILLING:
5 bacon strips, chopped
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon maple syrup
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
FROSTING:
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons whole milk
1 tablespoon maple syrup

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. In a large bowl, combine sugar, butter, egg yolk, vanilla, salt, nutmeg, yeast mixture and 1 cup flour; beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (dough will be sticky)., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour., In a small skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon; drain on paper towels. Discard drippings, reserving 2 tablespoons., In the same skillet, combine brown sugar, syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg and reserved bacon drippings; cook and stir until blended. 1/2 lb bacon, cooked crisp crumbled
1 cup pecans (whole and/or pieces)
3 packages refrigerated biscuits
3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cinnamon
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Combine bacon and pecans and cover bottom of bundt pan, prepared with non-stick spray.
  • Set aside.
  • Place 3/4 cup sugar, 3 Tablespoons cinnamon and biscuits in large zip-lock type bag.
  • Shake well until pieces are coated.
  • Place biscuit pieces into the bundt cake pan on top of bacon/pecan mixture.
  • Combine butter, 1 cup sugar and 2 Tablespoons cinnamon and pour over biscuit pieces.
  • Bake for 35 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove and serve hot.
