Basil Garlic Bread image

This is a must have accompaniment in my home. It goes well with Italian dishes to a simple salad dishes.-Stephanie Moon, Boise, Idaho.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1-1/2 teaspoons minced fresh basil or 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 loaf (8 ounces) French bread

Steps:

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter, parsley, basil and garlic. Cover and microwave until butter is melted. Stir in cheese., Cut the bread in half lengthwise; place cut side down on an uncovered grill over medium heat for 2 minutes or until lightly toasted. Brush cut side with the butter mixture. Grill or broil 1-2 minutes longer.

1/2 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons garlic, minced
1 -2 teaspoon basil, dried (Iuse 1/2 tsp)
1 loaf French bread, halved lengthwise (unsliced)

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first six ingredients; spread over cut sides of bread. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Broil 4-6 inches from the heat for 2-3 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut into 2-in. slices.

TOMATO-BASIL GARLIC BREAD



Tomato-Basil Garlic Bread image

This is sort of a spin on pizza bread, using commercial frozen garlic bread as a base. Fast and easy. Enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 loaf frozen garlic bread
8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
3 medium tomatoes, diced
15 ounces artichoke hearts, canned
6 fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper

Steps:

  • Drain, but do not rinse, the artichoke hearts (I use Polar brand). Roughly chop them into quarters.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the artichokes, basil, and all seasonings. Set aside.
  • Open the garlic bread and bake it on a sheet pan, (usually at 375-400 degrees F. in a pre-heated oven), until it is warm through but not browned. This should take about 10-12 minutes.
  • Remove the garlic bread from the oven and spread on the artichoke/tomato/basil blend evenly on all parts of the bread. Then, sprinkle on the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
  • Return the bread to the oven and allow it to continue to bake until the cheese melts and browns just slightly, (about 5-8 minutes).
  • Remove the bread from the oven, cut into pieces, and serve hot.

  • Place all ingredence into bread machine.
  • Water first.
  • Flour, sugar, salt, basil, garlic, and lastly yeast.
  • Yields a 1 lb loaf.
