Hamburger recipe image

A classic, juicy Hamburger Recipe made with ground chuck, a simple burger seasoning, and all of the classic burger toppings.

Provided by Lauren Allen

Categories     Main Course

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 ½ pounds ground chuck (80/20)*
1 1/2 teaspoons ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
6 buns (, toasted, if desired)
6 slices cheddar cheese (, or your favorite cheese)
6 Lettuce leaves
1 Beefsteak tomato (, sliced)
1/2 of a Red or white onion (, thinly sliced)
6 Pickle slices

Steps:

  • Make burger seasoning by combining all spices in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Divide ground chuck into 6 equal portions and gently from into 1/2 inch thick patties that are wider than the burger buns (as they will shrink). Use your thumb to press an indentation into the center of each patty. Cover and set aside.
  • Preheat grill to medium high heat. Just before cooking, sprinkle seasoning over the patties, then place on hot grill, indent-side up. Close grill lid and cook for 3-4 minutes, until the bottom of the burger is seared and juices are accumulating on top of the burger. Flip and cook an additional 3-4 minutes or until the beef reaches 160 degrees F.
  • Place cheese on burgers during the last minute of cooking. Remove to a plate and allow to rest for a few minutes before serving in a bun, with toppings.

Time 18m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 ½ lb ground beef 80/20 (6 oz burgers)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
cheddar cheese slices (optional)

Steps:

  • Place the ground beef in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Gently mix the spices into the ground beef. Be careful not to overmix the meat, because that can lead to your burgers falling apart while cooking.
  • Form the meat into a large patty and place it on a cutting board.
  • Cut the patty into 4 equal triangles, and then shape each triangle into a hamburger patty. Each patty should be about 6 ounces. Use a food scale to weigh each one to ensure they are all about the same size.
  • Use either your thumb or the back of a spoon, and press it into the center of each hamburger patty.
  • Place the patties into the fridge until ready to cook.
  • Preheat the grill to medium-high.
  • Place the burgers on the hot grill, indent side up. Close the lid and cook for about minutes, making sure the bottom of the burger is seared. Flip the burger and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until the beef reaches 160 degrees.
  • If adding cheese, place the cheese slices on the burgers during the last minute of cooking. Should only take a minute for the cheese to melt.
  • Serve hamburgers on your favorite bun with your toppings of choice.
  • Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Once the skillet is hot add the burger patties and cook for about 3 minutes, then flip them over and cook for another 5 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees.
  • If adding cheese, place the cheese slices on the burgers during the last minute of cooking. Put a lid over the pan to melt the cheese faster.

  • Steakhouse Burger. This is one of my all-time favorite burger recipes. And it’s possibly the most perfect hamburger patty I’ve ever made. These babies are so tasty and incredibly juicy, not to mention they’re super easy to dress up with toppings.
  • Cheese Stuffed Burgers (Juicy Lucy) The only thing better than a classic cheeseburger is a burger stuffed with cheese. This ooey-gooey dinner requires a few extra steps, but it’s worth it in the end.
  • Lipton Onion Soup Burger. Using Lipton onion soup mix to flavor a burger may not be your first instinct, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t genius. Incorporating a pre-made spice blend makes sense if you think about it.
  • Best Classic Burger. This recipe is for burger purists. It’s a classic patty that requires just a few ingredients and minimal effort. I like to make simple burgers for BBQs because it allows my guests to create their own dinner.
  • Pizza Burger. Craving a burger and pizza for dinner? Don’t pick just one – have them both! Pile pepperoni, pizza sauce, and cheese on top of a burger patty, and voila!
