It smells like Christmas all through Janet Crawford's house in Ashland, Kentucky when she serves up this pleasantly spicy punch. It can also be made in a Dutch oven.

Ingredients

6 cups unsweetened apple juice
6 cups cranberry juice
3 cups water
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks (3 inches)

Steps:

In a 24-cup percolator, combine the juices, water, brown sugar and salt. Place cloves and cinnamon sticks in the percolator basket; cover and begin perking. When cycle is complete, discard spices.

It's now a tradition that I serve this at the Christmas Tea I host each year, as well as any open house. Called by many names--and there are similar recipes on this site--it's different because it doesn't include apple juice or cider.

1 (64 fluid ounce) bottle unsweetened pineapple juice
1 (64 fluid ounce) bottle cranberry juice cocktail
4 ½ cups water
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons whole cloves
4 (4 inch) cinnamon sticks, broken
¼ teaspoon salt

Steps:

Pour the pineapple juice, cranberry juice, and water into a clean, well-washed coffee percolator. Place the brown sugar, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and salt in the basket of the percolator, and assemble the coffee percolator. Cover, plug in the cord, and perk. Serve hot.

24 cloves

Steps:

Pour Apple Cider and Ginger Ale in bottom of 30-cup percolator.
Place Red-Hots, cloves, and cinnamon sticks.
in percolator basket.
Let perk.
Makes 30 cups Hot punch.

8 cups water
1 (16 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate
1 (12 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
1 (46 ounce) can unsweetened pineapple juice
2 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup lime juice
ice cube
4 (28 ounce) bottles champagne or 4 (28 ounce) bottles dry white wine, chilled
2 (28 ounce) bottles carbonated water, chilled
orange, thinly sliced (optional)

Steps:

Champagne Fruit Punch: Substitute four 750-milliliter bottles of champagne or dry white wine for the ginger ale.
Combine water and the frozen concentrates; stir to dissolve.
Stir in the pineapple juice, sugar, and lime juice; stir to dissolve sugar.
Chill.
To serve, pour half the juice mix over ice in a punch bowl.
Slowly pour in 2 bottles of the ginger ale and 1 bottle of the carbonated water.
Stir gently to mix.
Garnish with oranges if desired.
Repeat with remaining ingredients when needed.
