2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup boiling water
2 tablespoons orange rind, grated
1/3 cup orange juice
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Grease an 8 1/2-by-4 1/2-inch loaf pan.
  • Sift dry ingredients together.
  • Melt butter in boiling water.
  • Add orange rind, orange juice, sugar,
  • vanilla and beaten egg and blend.
  • Sift dry ingredients over orange mixture. Add nuts.
  • Stir just until flour is damp.
  • Batter will be lumpy.
  • Pour into prepared pan.
  • Bake for 1 hour.

4 to 6 potatoes
4 teaspoons margarine
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3/4 teaspoon mustard
6 ounces cheddar cheese, grated or processed cheese spread
1 teaspoon chicken bullion powder

Steps:

  • Cook potatoes with skins; leave a little on firm side. Peel and dice after cold. Melt margarine, paprika, salt, pepper, mustard and cheese on low hear. Pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with additional paprika. Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees.

4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1-3/4 cups sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1-1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1 to 2 tablespoons grated orange zest
2 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
1 cup orange juice
1/4 cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Stir in nuts and orange zest. In a small bowl, beat the eggs, milk, orange juice and butter. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. , Pour into two greased 8x4-in. loaf pans. Bake at 350° for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1/4 cup water
1 1/4 cups sugar
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
2 large eggs
1/2 cup chopped toasted almonds
1 1/2 teaspoons grated orange peel

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly butter 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pan; dust with flour. Sift flour, baking powder and salt into small bowl. Combine orange concentrate and 1/4 cup water in another small bowl. Using electric mixer, beat sugar and butter in large bowl 1 minute. Beat in eggs 1 at a time. Beat in flour mixture alternately with orange concentrate mixture in 3 additions each. Mix in almonds and orange peel. Transfer batter to prepared pan.
  • Bake bread until tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 55 minutes. Cool bread in pan on rack 5 minutes. Turn out onto rack and cool completely. (Can be made 2 days ahead. Wrap in plastic and store at room temperature.)

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar, oil and eggs; mix well. Stir in bananas and orange juice. Combine the dry ingredients; add to banana mixture, beating just until moistened. Stir in walnuts. Pour into two greased 8-in. x 4-in. x 2-in. loaf pans. Bake at 325 degrees F for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. 4 teaspoons sugar
1 1/2 cups Bisquick
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1 egg
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400F and grease a pie plate.
  • In medium bowl stir sugar with Bisquick just to combine.
  • Set aside.
  • Put remaining ingredients in a blender.
  • Blend on high speed about 30
  • seconds or until smooth and completely combined.
  • Pour into Bisquick mixture and stir with a large spoon until fully incorporated and dough comes away from the side of the bowl.
  • Dust your hands with Bisquick and knead dough until smooth and elastic - about 5 minutes.
  • Shape dough into 8 equal patties, each about 1 inch thick.
  • Place evenly in pie plate.
  • Brush top of each biscuit with dab of soft butter or margarine.
  • Cover with inverted glass bowl or lid sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Allow biscuits to rise for about 30 minutes.
  • Bake approximately 15 minutes or until golden brown and doubled in size.

1 package active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons rum
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
3 1/3 cups all-purpose flour, plus additional for kneading
1/2 cup toasted walnuts, finely chopped
1/2 cup toasted pecans, finely chopped
1/2 cup toasted hazelnuts, skinned and finely chopped
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
2 teaspoons salt
1 cup chopped, pitted dates
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, stir the yeast and water together and let stand 5 minutes. Whisk in the honey, rum and butter. In another bowl, combine the flour, nuts, orange zest, salt, dates and nutmeg. Stir half of the flour mixture into the yeast mixture until smooth. Stir in the remaining flour mixture.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes. Place in a buttered bowl, cover with a towel and set aside to rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk, about 2 hours.
  • Punch the dough down. Butter a baking sheet. Shape the dough into a loaf and place on the baking sheet. Cover with a towel and set aside in a warm place until doubled in bulk, about 1 1/4 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Bake for 10 minutes. Lower the temperature to 350 degrees. Bake until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom, about 40 minutes longer. Set on a rack to cool before slicing.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease 3 to 4 mini loaf pans (5x3 inches each).
  • Zest and juice an orange; set 1 tablespoon zest aside. Pour orange juice into a one-cup measuring cup, add boiling water to fill to one cup measurement.
