DELICIOUS STUFFED BANANA PEPPERS



Delicious Stuffed Banana Peppers image

Spicy meets sweet and creamy in these stuffed banana peppers. Makes a great snack or an appetizer for a party. Great for large groups as you can easily control the amount of spiciness. This is one of my favorites!

toothpicks
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
½ cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes
3 cloves garlic, minced, or more to taste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
10 banana peppers
10 slices peppered bacon, or to taste

Steps:

  • Soak toothpicks in water for 15 minutes.
  • Combine cream cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and cilantro in a large bowl. Mix well.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate.
  • Cut a slit lengthwise through each pepper without slicing it in half. Cut another slit about 1/4 inch from the stem across the previous slit, forming a 'T'. Remove seeds, as desired, using a paring knife.
  • Fill each pepper with the cream cheese stuffing mixture using a small spoon. Wrap each pepper with a slice of raw bacon. Slide 1 toothpick through the center of each pepper to hold onto the bacon and keep pepper closed.
  • Grill stuffed peppers for 15 minutes. Turn and cook until bacon is crisp, about 10 minutes more.

Bob's Stuffed Banana Peppers image

This is an awesome recipe for banana peppers stuffed with an Italian sausage mixture and baked in a delicious tomato sauce. We get requests to make them for the guys my husband works with all the time.

8 banana peppers
2 tablespoons butter
½ cup chopped onion
½ cup chopped celery
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 ½ teaspoons salt, divided
½ teaspoon ground black pepper, divided
1 egg
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 pound hot Italian sausage
1 pound mild Italian sausage
1 ½ cups bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Cut off tops of peppers, and remove ribs and seeds. Chop edible portions of tops; set aside. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add peppers, reduce heat, and simmer until tender but still firm, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat butter in a medium skillet. Saute reserved chopped pepper, onion and celery until tender, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and garlic. Season with basil, oregano, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, combine egg, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, Worcestershire sauce and Parmesan. Mix in hot sausage, mild sausage, bread crumbs and 1 cup of the tomato sauce mixture.
  • Using a piping bag or sausage stuffer, fill each pepper with the meat mixture. Place in a 3 quart casserole dish, and pour remaining tomato sauce mixture over peppers.
  • Bake uncovered in preheated oven for 1 hour.

Stuffed Banana Peppers image

1 pound hot ground Italian Sausage, roasted and chopped fine
1/2 cup Locatelli Romano cheese
1/2 cup bread crumbs
Salt and pepper to taste
1 large egg
Olive oil to saute
4 banana peppers (Hungarian hots or mild as preferred)
1 cup marinara sauce, heated for service
Wedge dry ricotta cheese

Steps:

  • Mix sausage, cheese, bread crumbs, salt and pepper, and egg together in mixing bowl. Season to taste. Adjust mixture with additional cheese and bread crumbs if too dry or moist - medium moisture for stuffing desired. Make a radial slice around the top of the banana pepper leaving the top intact. Pull back top and remove seeds if so desired. Gently stuff mixture into peppers. Place olive oil in hot saute pan. Gently place peppers in the pan and fry each side until browned. Place marinara sauce in middle of plate. Arrange peppers on top of marinara and grate the dry ricotta cheese on top of the hot peppers.

Banana Stuffed French Toast,

1/4 cup pancake mix
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar
12 eggs
1 cup chopped walnuts
2 cups brown sugar
4 ripe bananas, sliced
1 large (1 1/2 to 2-pound) loaf unsliced French bread
About 2 cups crushed crunchy corn cereal (recommended: Corn Flakes)
About 12 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the pancake mix with enough water to make a thin batter. Add nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, sugar and eggs. Whisk together until smooth, about 3 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together walnuts, brown sugar, and banana slices.
  • Slice the ends off the French bread. Starting at 1 end, measure about a half inch down the loaf and slice the bread 3/4 of the way through. Measure about another half inch, and slice cleanly through the bread. You should have a 1-inch slice of bread with a cut down the middle. Repeat this process until the bread is all sliced up.
  • Take a piece of the cut French bread and stuff a few tablespoons of the banana mixture into the slit in the middle. Add a good amount, but do not overstuff so that the mixture won't stay in the center. Repeat until all the slices are stuffed.
  • Preheat a skillet or flat-top grill over medium-high heat. When the pan is hot, coat it with 2 tablespoons of butter.
  • Pour the crushed-up cornflakes onto a plate. Take a slice of stuffed bread and dip it into the egg mixture, coating both sides liberally. Then press the bread into the cornflakes and flip it to coat both sides. Place the bread on the grill or skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side. Flip the toast over and cook the other side. Repeat the coating and cooking process for each slice of bread, and add more butter to the grill or skillet as necessary, about 2 tablespoons of butter per slice.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Lay the bananas so the ends are pointing up. Using a knife, cut a slit down the inside top so you can open it like an envelope, careful not to rip open the peel. Spread 1 tablespoon of peanut butter inside each banana and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Close the peel of the banana up and wrap the entire banana in aluminum foil. Place the bananas on a baking sheet and transfer to the oven to bake, about 10 minutes or until the insides of the banana are soft and warm and the chocolate is melted.

2 bananas, peeled and sliced
3 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon water
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ cup butter
confectioners' sugar for dusting

Steps:

  • Create a pocket about 2/3 of the way into each slice of bread by cutting along an edge. Fill pockets with 2 or 3 banana slices each.
  • In a medium bowl, beat together eggs, water, milk, vanilla extract, orange liqueur and orange zest. Dip the bread slices in the mixture, allowing slices to become saturated.
  • Melt butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Place a few slices at a time in the skillet, and cook, turning once, until both sides are golden brown. Dust with confectioners' sugar to serve.

  • Wash and put a long slit on each banana pepper. And remove the seeds. Highly recommend using gloves when you work with banana peppers. Also, if the banana peppers you're using are very fresh and break easily, then blanch them in hot water for a few seconds to soften them up.
  • In a bowl, mix onions, Maldive fish flakes, Sri Lankan roasted curry powder, salt, and lime juice. Mix well using your hands. gently crush the onions with your fingers as you're mixing. Make this mixture only when you're ready to stuff the peppers and grill. Do not let it sit on the counter.
  • Fill all the banana peppers with the mixture. it's easier to use hands for this. But make sure you wear gloves.
  • Heat 2 tsp of oil in a large pan. Lay all the banana peppers. Leave space between each banana pepper. Sprinkle some salt and pepper on the top. Let one side of the banana peppers brown and then flip and let the other side brown too.

  • Heat your oven to 350 degrees F and bring a medium saucepan of water to a boil over high heat. Season well with salt and add the banana peppers to blanch just until slightly tender, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a skillet over medium heat and add in the onion and chopped pepper. Season with salt and pepper and cook until tender and lightly golden, 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Add the tomato passata or crushed tomatoes into the pan with the remaining onion mixture, bring to a simmer, cover with an off-kilter lid and reduce the heat to low to cook and keep warm.
  • Add the ground beef and sausage to the bowl with the breadcrumb mixture along with the egg yolk, cheese, parsley and oregano. Season with salt and pepper and mix well to combine.
  • Drizzle with the remaining tablespoon of oil, cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking until golden and the internal temperature of the meat reaches 165 degrees F, for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Serve the peppers topped with sauce and a good scattering of Parmigiano-Reggiano and some chopped parsley.
