The dressing in this BLT salad is exceptional! This BLT salad is loaded with fresh lettuce, crispy bacon, bright tomatoes and of course croutons. An easy, excellent salad!

12 oz sliced cooked bacon*
1 to 2 cups croutons
1 lb 3 cups tomatoes (any kind), sliced
1 medium/large head of lettuce (** chopped, rinsed, dried)
3 Tbsp mayo
4 Tbsp sour cream
1 large garlic clove (pressed)
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives
1/8 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp sea salt (or to taste)
1 to 2 Tbsp milk (or add to desired consistency)

Steps:

  • Make the dressing first to allow the flavors to meld. In a small bowl, combine 3 Tbsp mayo, 4 Tbsp sour cream, pressed garlic clove, 1/4 cup chives, 1/8 tsp black pepper and 1/4 tsp salt (or season to taste). Stir together then add 1 to 2 Tbsp milk, or add milk to desired consistency. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine lettuce, tomatoes, bacon and croutons. Just before serving, drizzle with dressing (adding it to taste) and toss to combine.

6 bacon slices (about 1/4 pound)
1/4 loaf Italian bread
1/4 teaspoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon water
1 small red onion
1/2 pound cherry tomatoes (about 3/4 pint)
1 head Boston lettuce

Steps:

  • In a skillet cook bacon over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, until crisp. Reserving 1 tablespoon bacon fat in skillet, drain bacon on paper towels and crumble. Cut bread into enough 3/4-inch cubes to measure 1 cup. Heat fat over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking and sauté bread cubes with salt to taste, stirring, until golden brown. Transfer croutons to paper towels to drain and cool.
  • In a small bowl whisk together garlic, lemon juice, mayonnaise, water, and salt and pepper to taste. Slice onion and halve tomatoes. Tear lettuce into bite-size pieces.
  • In a large bowl toss together onion, tomatoes, lettuce, half of bacon and croutons, salt and pepper to taste, and enough dressing to coat.
  • Divide salad between 2 plates and top with remaining croutons and bacon.

1 head iceberg lettuce (about 8 cups) or 1 head romaine lettuce, shredded (about 8 cups)
2 large tomatoes, chopped (about 2 cups)
1 lb bacon, cooked until crisp, crumbled
2 cups seasoned croutons
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Place the lettuce on the bottom of a large salad bowl.
  • Layer over that the tomatoes, crumbled bacon, and croutons. In a blender on medium-high speed, blend the mayonnaise, milk, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  • Just before serving, pour the dressing over the salad but don't toss it! (That'll ruin it's super looks.).

¾ cup mayonnaise
¼ cup milk
1 teaspoon garlic powder
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
salt to taste
1 head romaine lettuce - rinsed, dried and shredded
2 large tomatoes, chopped

Steps:

  • Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat, turning frequently, until evenly browned. Drain, crumble and set aside.
  • In a blender or food processor, combine mayonnaise, milk, garlic powder and black pepper. Blend until smooth. Season the dressing with salt.
  • Combine lettuce, tomatoes, bacon and croutons in a large salad bowl. Toss with dressing, and serve immediately.

10 slices thick-cut bacon
1/2 pound ciabatta bread, cut or torn into bite-sized pieces
1 pound multi-colored heirloom tomatoes, cut into bite-sized wedges
1/2 head iceberg lettuce, roughly chopped (about 5 cups)
2 1/2 ounces baby arugula, roughly chopped
1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
2 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon lemon zest
3 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a rimmed baking sheet with foil.
  • For the salad: Place the bacon on the prepared baking sheet, transfer to the oven and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, flipping the bacon halfway through.
  • Meanwhile, make the dressing. Add the mayonnaise, lemon zest, lemon juice, oil, salt, and pepper to a mason jar, cover and shake to emulsify. Set aside.
  • Remove the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to cool. Add the bread to the pan with the bacon fat and toss to combine. Transfer the pan back to the oven and cook until lightly golden and crisp, 10 to 15 minutes. When the bacon is cool enough to handle, chop it into large bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  • To assemble the salad, add the tomatoes to the base of a bowl or travel container. Add the iceberg and arugula on top. Sprinkle with the chives and dill. Top the salad with the bacon and ciabatta croutons. When ready to serve, drizzle on three-quarters of the dressing and toss to combine. Serve with extra dressing on the side.

3 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 medium lemon, juiced
¼ teaspoon kosher salt

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Arrange bacon in a single layer on a sheet pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until crisp, about 15 minutes, turning halfway through. Remove from the oven and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Chop when cool enough to handle.
  • Add bread cubes and cherry tomatoes to the bacon drippings in the sheet pan. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and toss until evenly coated.
  • Return to the oven and bake until bread is toasted and tomatoes have started to burst, about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven. Add arugula and toss to coat.

2 tablespoons white vinegar
