Booze balls are definitely the star of the show but not one to give to the kids! These simple treats are a bit like truffles but have a slightly sweet taste that makes them very hard to resist.

1 box Nilla Wafers ((processed fine))
1/2 cup walnuts ((chopped))
1/2 cup almonds ((chopped - or pecans))
3/4 cup confectioner's sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
3/4 cup Nutella
3/4 cup Amaretto
1/4 cup coconut ((or more to roll the balls in))

Steps:

  • Empty the box of Nilla Wafers into a food processor, pulse until the wafers become finely processed.
  • Place Nilla meal in a big bowl and add nuts, confectioner's sugar, cocoa powder Nutella and Amaretto.
  • Stir with rubber spatula until all is incorporated. If moist, refrigerate for 30 minutes
  • Take small amount of dough in hand and roll into 1 inch balls - it's okay to have different sizes
  • Roll in coconut and place on jelly roll pan and refrigerate for 1 - 2 hours
  • Serve
  • Smile
  • Enjoy

These are made with a surpirse ingredient, prunes. These are made a little differently than are the others that I have found posted. I don't know where I found this recipe but here it is.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
20 (4 1/2 ounce) chocolate wafer cookies
4 ounces chopped walnuts (optional) or 4 ounces chopped cashews (optional)
1/2 cup pitted prune, chopped fine
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup Bourbon or 1/2 cup brandy
1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup granulated sugar or 1/4 cup colored sugar sprinkle, for rolling

Steps:

  • Put chocolate chips into a double boiler on low heat and simmer, stirring occasionally until melted and smooth.
  • Put cookies & nuts, if using, into food processor and process until finely ground, about 1/2 cups.
  • Stir crumbs, pitted prunes, confectioner's sugar, bourbon or brandy and condensed milk into chocolate mixture until evenly combined.
  • Cover and refrigerate mixture until firm enough to roll into balls, about 24 hours.
  • Scoop 1 tablespoon or so of mixture with a cookie scoop or small ice cream scoop, roll each portion with cool hands into a smooth ball and set on baking sheet or large plate.
  • To serve, put sugar on a plate and roll balls to coat, & serve at room temperature.

This recipe can be made with rum or juice, they are a delight either way - and a fantastic holiday treat for those tea trays!!

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup icing sugar
1/4 cup chopped nuts or 1/4 cup coconut
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons rum or 2 tablespoons juice
3 tablespoons corn syrup or 3 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine crumbs, sugar, nuts and cocoa, mixing well,.
  • In a small bowl, combine melted butter, rum or juice, corn syrup and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients mixing until all is moistened. Shape into small balls. Mixture will be slightly sticky but will firm up when refrigerated. Roll in choice of coating (cocoa, icing sugar, ground nuts, sprinkles, coconut) Place in small fluted candy cups. Chill until firm and then transfer to airtight container and store in refrigerator.
  • FLAVOR COMBOS:.
  • Orange Pecan: 1/4 Cup Chopped Pecans, 2 tablespoons orange Juice.
  • Rum Coconut: 1/4 cup Flaked Coconut, 2 teaspoons Rum.
  • Amaretto: 1/4 cup chopped almonds, 2 tablespoons Amaretto liqueur.
  • Hazelnut: 1/4 cup chopped hazelnut, 2 tablespoons rum.
