HAWAIIAN BREAD RECIPE

Hawaiian Bread Recipe image

You'll love this Hawaiian bread recipe! We found the crust to be extra flaky and the bread had a cake-like texture. Yum!!

Provided by Marsha Perry

Categories     Bread Machine Recipes

Number Of Ingredients 8

¾ cup pineapple juice
1 egg (beaten)
2 Tablespoons olive oil
2 Tablespoons milk
2 ½ Tablespoons sugar
¾ teaspoon salt
3 cups bread flour
1 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast

Steps:

  • This makes a two-pound loaf.
  • Follow the instructions that came with your bread machine in terms of which ingredients to put in the bread machine first. (My bread machine recommends adding the liquids first.) Use the basic or sweet setting.
  • I made mine with the bread machine set at medium crust. It came out a little darker than I'd like. The next time I'm going to use the light crust setting.
  • Check on the dough after five or ten minutes of kneading. It should be a smooth, round ball. If it's too dry add liquid a teaspoon at a time until it looks OK. If it looks too wet, add flour a tablespoon at a time until it looks OK. Most of the time though, the above amounts should be just right.

King's Hawaiian Bread (Copycat) image

We absolutely love this bread. My sister won't buy anything but. It's kinda expensive so when I came across this, I had to add it here so we (Mom, Chris, and I) could always have it and everyone else could enjoy it too. The first time I ever had it, it was with the Spinach Veggie dip...OMGOSH it was DEEEVINE! So...next time you don't wanna spend the money, whip it up yourself! It does take a while...but so worth it!

BREAD MACHINE RECIPE FOR KINGS HAWAIIAN BREAD

Bread Machine Recipe for Kings Hawaiian Bread image

Thanks for all of the feed back, I made this this today after converting it from weights, to standard measurements and it tasted good, but was just a little dense. So I increased the yeast by 1/2 tsp. I hope you enjoy this recipe.

Provided by John West

Categories     Sweet Breads

Time 3h30m

Number Of Ingredients 11

3/4 c water, warm
1 large egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 Tbsp butter, melted
6 1/2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 1/2 tsp instant yeast
1/3 c instant potato flakes, dry
1/3 c powdered milk
3 c bread flour
4 tsp vital wheat gluten

Steps:

  • 1. This is a very straight forward process. Add all of the liquids into your bread machine first, then the solids.
  • 2. Because this recipe has egg as an ingredient, do not put your machine on a delay timer, start the machine on the sweet bread cycle right after you have all of the ingredients in the bread machine.
  • 3. This bread has sugar in it, so when it's done baking, remove the bread from the machine. If your machine has a keep warm cycle at the end, it may get your bread overly browned.
  • 4. After removing the bread from the machine, let it cool on a rack for a while before cutting. Enjoy !

EASY HAWAIIAN ROLLS #2

Easy Hawaiian Rolls #2 image

Exactly like Kings Hawaiian rolls and so easy too!

Provided by Judith Hannemann

Categories     breads

Time 4h15m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup warm water or pineapple juice
1/3 cup sugar
2 1/4 tsp SAF yeast (aka bread machine yeast)
2 tbsp oil
3/4 tsp salt
3 cups bread flour

Steps:

  • Place water (or pineapple juice) in a large bowl. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 10 minutes. If bubbles form, yeast is active and you may proceed.
  • Add the oil and salt; stir
  • Stir in flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Turn out on floured surface and knead for 5-8 minutes or until dough is smooth and elastic.
  • Place about 1 tsp of oil in the bottom of a deep bowl. Add the dough and coat the bottom of the dough with the oil; turn dough oil side up. Cover and let rise for 1-1 1/2 hours or until double in bulk
  • Stand mixer method:
  • Place water/pineapple juice in the bowl of a heavy-duty stand mixer. Add the sugar and stir. Sprinkle yeast over liquid. Let stand for 10 minutes. If bubbles form, you may proceed.
  • Attach dough hook to machine. Add the oil and the salt. Mix at low speed.
  • Add flour, one cup at a time, and knead for 3 minutes. Proceed as above.
  • Bread machine method:
  • Add ingredients as per manufacturer's instructions. Set on dough cycle. When time is up, proceed to "shaping" instructions.
  • Shaping:
  • Lightly spray or grease a 9 x 9-inch pan.
  • Turn out dough on a lightly floured surface. Roll dough into a 9-inch log. Cut off 9 equal portions and form into balls. Place in pan, allowing space around each ball for rising.
  • Cover and let rise until double in bulk, about 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake rolls for 15-20 minutes or until internal temperature of rolls is 190 degrees F -OR- until when bottom of the rolls are tapped, it produces a hollow sound.
  • While still hot, brush tops of each roll with butter. NOTE: what I do is just rub the end of a stick of butter on each roll.

HAWAIIAN SWEET BREAD

Hawaiian Sweet Bread image

The mother of a high school friend would make 13 loaves of this lightly sweet Hawaiian bread recipe at a time! I make this bread year-round, but my family insists it's a "must" for the holidays. -Ruthie Banks, Prescott, Arizona

Provided by Taste of Home

Time 1h

Yield 3 loaves (12 wedges each).

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/2 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup pineapple juice
1 cup whole milk
7-1/2 to 8 cups all-purpose flour, divided
3/4 cup mashed potato flakes
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
3 large eggs, room temperature, lightly beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water; let stand until bubbles form on surface, 5 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, heat butter until melted. Add pineapple juice and whole milk and continue to heat gently until mixture reaches 110° to 115°. In a large bowl, combine 3 cups flour, potato flakes, sugar, salt and ginger. Add yeast and butter mixtures to dry ingredients; beat just until moistened. Add eggs; beat until smooth. Beat in vanilla. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough; dough will be sticky. , Turn dough onto a floured surface; with floured hands, knead until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes, adding more flour to surface and hands as needed. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1-1/4 hours., Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide into thirds. Shape each into a ball. Place in 3 greased 9-in. round baking pans lined with parchment. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°. Bake until golden brown and internal temperature of loaves reaches 200°, 30-35 minutes, covering loosely with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking if needed to prevent tops from over-browning. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.

HAWAIIAN BUNS | KING ARTHUR BAKING

From kingarthurbaking.com
  • For the sponge: Weigh your flour; or measure it by gently spooning it into a cup, then sweeping off any excess. In the bowl of your stand mixer or the bucket of your bread machine, combine the sponge ingredients.
  • Add the pineapple juice, butter, brown sugar, eggs and yolk, and vanilla, mixing until well combined.
  • Mix and knead until the dough is cohesive and smooth; it'll be very sticky at first. If you're using a stand mixer, beat with the flat beater for about 3 minutes at medium-high speed; then scrape the dough into the center of the bowl, switch to the dough hook, and knead for about 5 minutes at medium speed.
  • Lightly grease the mixing bowl or a large (8-cup) measure; round the dough into a ball, and place it in the bowl or measure. Cover, and let rise until very puffy, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  • Gently deflate the dough. Divide it into 16 equal pieces, by dividing in half, then in halves again, etc. Round each piece into a smooth ball. Space the buns in the pan.
  • Tent the dough gently with lightly greased plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in the pan for 1 hour, until it's nicely puffy. Toward the end of the rising time, preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Mix the reserved egg white with 1 tablespoon cold water, and brush some onto the surface of the rolls; this will give them a satiny crust.
  • Bake the rolls for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reads 190°F on a digital thermometer.
