Shami kebab are tender patties made with chicken and chana dal (yellow split peas), and then dipped in eggs and pan-fried. These kebabs are kid-friendly, naturally gluten-free, and so wholesome! This easy Chicken shami kabab Recipe by Shireen Anwar recipe makes a large batch to enjoy some now, and freeze the rest for later!

Number Of Ingredients 13

500 gm Boneless chicken (leg + breast)
½ cup Chana daal (soaked for 30 minutes)
1 tsp Ginger garlic heaped
1 large Onion sliced
8 Whole red pepper
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Allspice
1 Egg
2 tbsp Yogurt
2 tbsp Coriander leaves (chopped)
4 Green chilies
1 Onion (finely chopped)
2 cups Water

Steps:

  • In a pot, add chicken meat with soaked chana daal, whole red pepper, salt, chopped onion and 2 cups water.
  • Cook for 40 minutes on medium flame or until tender and all water dries up.
  • Chopperize well.
  • Now add beaten egg in it, yogurt, allspice, chopped coriander leaves and green chilies, chopped onion.
  • Mix until well combined.
  • Shape into kababs.
  • Shallow fry in frying pan until golden brown.
  • Take it out in a serving platter.
  • Chicken shami kabab is ready to serve.
