Using harissa with sugar and honey give these Wings with Angry Sauce the perfect heat! Great appetizer for game day or anytime!

2-3 lbs. chicken wings
Cooking spray
2 Tbsp. canola oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
2 1/2 Tbsp. harissa paste or to taste
1 Tbsp. chili powder
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. honey
1/2 Tbsp. sesame oil
1 Tbsp. each sesame seeds and water
1 tsp. each rice wine vinegar, soy sauce (gluten free if needed), and minced jarred ginger
1/2 tsp. minced jarred garlic

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray. Lay the wings out on the baking sheet. Drizzle with the canola oil and season with salt and pepper and toss. Roast the wings for 45 min. or until cooked and crisp. Turn half way through cooking time to cook evenly. In a large bowl add the remaining ingredients and mix together well. Taste and adjust the heat with more sugar or honey if you like. Once the wings are done toss them in the sauce and serve. Tips: Make the sauce ahead of time and refrigerate over night. Bring up to room temperature before tossing with the wings. Serve with your favorite beer to offset the heat!

1/4 cup canola oil
Kosher salt
Freshly ground pepper
1/3 cup gochujang (Korean chile paste)
2 tablespoons gochugaru (Korean chile powder)
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon water
2 teaspoons unseasoned rice vinegar
2 teaspoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons minced peeled fresh ginger
1 teaspoon minced garlic
Sesame seeds and thinly sliced scallions, for garnish

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 450°. Line 2 large rimmed baking sheets with foil and coat with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, toss the wings with the canola oil and season with salt and pepper. Transfer the wings, skin side up, to the prepared baking sheets and roast them for about 45 minutes, until they are cooked through and crisp. 2. Meanwhile, in another large bowl, whisk all of the remaining ingredients except the garnish with a pinch of freshly ground pepper. 3. Add the crispy wings to the chile sauce, toss to coat and garnish with the sesame seeds and scallions. Serve hot. Make Ahead The sauce can be refrigerated overnight. ½ cup cold unsalted butter
1 ½ tablespoons white vinegar
¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
salt to taste

Steps:

  • Combine the hot sauce, butter, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt in a pot and place over medium heat. Bring to a simmer while stirring with a whisk. As soon as the liquid begins to bubble on the sides of the pot, remove from heat, stir with the whisk, and set aside for use.

2 dozen chicken wings
Flour, for dredging
2 tablespoons paprika
Salt and pepper
1/4 cup Spanish olive oil
Pinch red pepper flakes
Bay leaf
2 lemons, halved
10 roasted cloves garlic
1/4 cup chopped fresh oregano
1/4 cup Spanish sherry
2 cups low-sodium chicken broth

Steps:

  • Rinse the chicken wings in cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Place flour in a shallow platter and season it by adding paprika, salt and pepper. Toss to incorporate, then dredge the wings in the flour.
  • Heat oil in a skillet and brown the chicken wings on all sides. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside on a platter. Add the pepper flakes, bay leaf, lemons, garlic, oregano, sherry, and chicken broth to the pan.
  • Cook for 2 minutes to evaporate the alcohol. Return the chicken to the pan. Cover the pan and simmer for 15 minutes, or braise in a preheated 375 degree oven for 20 minutes.

I played around with this sauce until I got it just right for me and my husband. I could eat these weekly or more often! I use Splenda brown sugar blend and reduced sodium soy sauce. You can use more brown sugar if you want more sweet. I like the sweet/spicy flavor of this sauce.

1 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar

4 -8 drops Tabasco sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Spray 9x13 pan with cooking spray and lay wings in pan.
  • Mix all other ingredients in a bowl and pour over wings. Turn wings to coat with sauce.
  • Bake at 375 for one hour and turn wings after 30 minutes, then raise oven temp to 450 and bake about 10 minutes (more or less depending on how crisp you like your wings -- just keep an eye on them).

2 cups stout beer
1 cup water
1 lemon, juiced
¼ cup kosher salt, divided, plus 2 teaspoons
1 lemon, zested
3 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper, divided
3 lb chicken wings
2 tablespoons smoked paprika
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon chilli powder
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
3 tablespoons canola oil
1 cup mayonnaise
1 lemon, juiced
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon celery seed
¼ teaspoon cayenne

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the stout, water, lemon juice, ¼ cup salt, the lemon zest, and 1 teaspoon black pepper. Add the chicken wings and toss to coat, then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, up to overnight.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the paprika, onion powder, remaining 2 teaspoons black pepper, the garlic powder, chili powder, brown sugar, and remaining 2 teaspoons of salt.
  • Make the white barbecue sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, salt, celery seeds, and cayenne. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for 20 minutes.
