1 package (10 ounces) miniature marshmallows
3 tablespoons butter
6 cups Cocoa Krispies
12 Popsicle sticks
2 cups (12 ounces each) milk chocolate chips
2 teaspoons shortening
Decorations of your choice: chocolate jimmies, halved miniature pretzels, candy corn, candy coating disks, Life Savers and Reese's pieces

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, combine marshmallows and butter. Cook and stir over medium-low heat until melted. Stir in cereal. Press into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. pan. Cool completely., Using a 2-1/2-in. round cookie cutter, cut out 12 circles. Insert a lollipop stick into each cutout., In a microwave, melt chocolate chips and shortening; stir until smooth. Dip pops into chocolate; allow excess to drip off. Place on waxed paper., Sprinkle with jimmies and add pretzels for ears. Add candy corn noses and use remaining candies as desired for eyes. Let stand until set.

1 stick plus 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
4 ounces semisweet chocolate, with 60 percent cocoa solids
2 eggs
3/4 cup superfine sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Special equipment: 4 (2/3 to 1-cup capacity) ramekins

Steps:

  • Place a baking sheet in the oven and preheat to 400 degrees F.
  • Butter the ramekins with 1 tablespoon butter.
  • Either in a microwave or in a bowl suspended over a pan over simmering water, melt the dark chocolate and 1 stick butter, then set aside to cool a little.
  • In another bowl, mix the eggs with the sugar and flour with a hand whisk and beat in the cooled butter and chocolate mixture. Divide the mixture between the 4 buttered ramekins. Bake for about 20 minutes, by which time the tops will be cooked and cracked and the chocolate gooey underneath.
  • Place each ramekin on a small plate with a teaspoon and serve. Make sure to warn people that these desserts will be HOT!

1 tablespoon water
½ cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
2 egg whites
1 ¾ cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup rolled oats
½ cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter flavored shortening, water, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg whites and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; stir into the creamed mixture. Blend in the oats and mini chocolate chips. Drop dough by half-teaspoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 7 to 9 minutes in the preheated oven, until the edges begin to brown. Remove from baking sheets to cool on wire racks. Cool at least 10 minutes before eating.

A friend gave me this recipe but the original creator is Natialie Riggin from Olmypia, Washington. Two slices of refrigerator cookies are baked together with chocolate chips for the eyes and a cashew nut for the beak. A clever party cookie.

2 1/2 cups flour, sift to get measurement
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg, unbeaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 unsweetened chocolate squares (1.5 oz)
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
86 chocolate chips
48 cashew nuts

Steps:

  • Sift together flour, baking powder, salt. Set aside.
  • Cream butter, gradually add brown sugar, creaming well. Add egg and vanilla; beat well.
  • Blend in the dry ingredients gradually; mix thoroughly.
  • Melt chocolate together, cool and add baking soda.
  • Remove 2/3 of dough to floured surface. Blend chocolate mixture into remaining dough; chill if necessary for easier handling.
  • Roll out half the light dough to a 10 x 4 1/4" strip. Shape half of dark dough into a roll 10 inches long; place on strip of light dough. Mold sides of light dough around dark: wrap in foil. Repeat with remaining dough. Chill at least 2 hours.
  • Cut into slices 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick and place two slices toghter on a greased baking sheet to resemble an owl. Pinch a corner of each slice to form ears. Place a chocolate chip in the center of each slice for eyes; press a whole cashew nut between slices for a beak.
  • Bake 350f 8-12 minutes. Remove from sheets immediately.

1 ¼ cups candy-coated milk chocolate pieces
2 tablespoons milk
24 ounces dry sugar cookie mix
1 cup cashew halves

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan combine 3/4 cup of the candies and milk. Melt over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
  • Prepare cookie mixes according to package directions. Stir melted chocolate into half the dough. Form chocolate dough into two 12-inch long rolls about 1 inch in diameter. Wrap in wax paper or foil. Chill until firm, about 2 hours.
  • Divide plain dough in half. On a well-floured surface, roll each plain half out to a 12 x 6 inch rectangle. Place a chocolate roll on long edge. Roll up, pressing doughs lightly together so plain dough encases chocolate roll. Repeat with remaining dough.
  • Wrap each roll in wax paper or foil. Chill about 2 hours until firm. Preheat oven to 375 F (190 C).
  • Cut each roll into 1/4 inch slices. Place 2 slices so they are touching on greased baking sheet. In the center of each chocolate circle, place one of the remaining candies for eye. Where the slices touch, place a cashew to form nose.
  • Bake until the plain cookie is lightly browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Cool cookies on baking sheets 2 to 3 minutes. Remove and cool on wire racks.

2/3 cup butter, softened
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 ounce unsweetened chocolate, melted
12 whole cashews
24 striped chocolate kisses, unwrapped
24 semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat butter, peanut butter and brown sugar until blended. Beat in egg and vanilla. In another bowl, mix flour, oats, baking powder and salt; gradually beat into creamed mixture., If necessary, cover and refrigerate dough 1 hour or until firm enough to shape. Divide dough in half; shape 1 portion into an 8-in.-long roll. Mix melted chocolate into remaining dough. Roll chocolate dough between 2 sheets of waxed paper into an 8-in. square. Place plain roll on chocolate dough. Wrap chocolate dough around plain dough, pinching together at the seam to seal. Wrap and refrigerate 3 hours or until firm., Preheat oven to 350°. Unwrap and cut dough crosswise into 24 slices 3/8 in. thick. To make owls, place two slices side by side on an ungreased baking sheet; pinch the top of each slice for ears. Place a cashew between slices for a beak. Repeat with remaining dough., Bake 12-15 minutes or until set. Cool on pans 5 minutes before removing to wire racks. While cookies are warm, place 2 kisses on each cookie, pointed side down, for eyes. (Kisses will melt slightly.) Top each kiss with a chocolate chip. Cool completely.
