CLEOPATRA'S KISSES

Steps:

• Crumble the bread into crumbs.
• Heat honey, sugar and butter in a skillet over low heat.
• Cook until melted.
• Add bread crumbs and cook over low heat, stirring, for 10 minutes.
• Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a lightly greased cookie sheet.
• Sprinkle with nuts if desired.

SOLDIERS KISSES

Steps:

• Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
• Beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until light and frothy; beat in sugar, about 1 tablespoon at a time, until incorporated. Continue beating until the mixture is thick and shiny, 1 to 2 more minutes. Lightly fold in the walnuts. Drop by heaping teaspoonful onto the prepared baking sheet.
• Bake until dry to the touch, about 40 minutes. Cool thoroughly.

SAUCEPAN KISSES

Steps:

• Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil gently stirring for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add last 4 ingredients. Stir well and drop by teaspoonful onto wax paper. Cool.

ROMEO'S SIGHS AND JULIET'S KISSES

Steps:

• Romeo's Sighs
• Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line two half-sheet pans with parchment paper.
• In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar. Add the almond extract. Add the salt and flour, beating just until each addition is incorporated.
• Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto one of the prepared pans. Set aside until you prepare Juliet's Kisses.
• Juliet's Kisses
• In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar. Add the vanilla. Add the salt, flour, and cocoa powder, beating until each addition is incorporated.
• Drop by level teaspoonfuls onto the second prepared pan. (These cookies spread more than the Romeos.)
• Place the pan of the Romeos and the pan of Juliets in the center of the oven. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until the Romeos just start to brown at the edges. Cool completely on wire racks.
• Filling
• Spread the filling onto the flat side of a Romeo and sandwich together with a Juliet. Repeat this process with the remaining cookies.
