Steps:
- Cream butter and sugar well.
- Add other ingredients.
- Pour into unbaked crust.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes.
- Make meringue of egg whites stiffly beaten, with equal amount of sugar and small amount of nutmeg (equal amounts mean equal measure of sugar and egg whites).
- To keep meringue from weeping, beat whites until foamy, then add sugar slowly.
- Beat stiff.
- Cover filling with meringue.
- Brown in moderate oven.
- Yields one 9" pie.

- In a kettle, cook bacon until crisp; drain, reserving bacon and 1/4 cup drippings in pan. Brown beef in drippings. Add beef broth and jelly; cover and simmer 45 minutes. Cover rabbits with water in a pot; simmer for 1 hour or until meat falls from bones. , Remove meat; set aside (discard bones). To beef mixture, add chicken broth,, bay leaf, salt, pepper and cayenne; simmer 20 minutes. Add onions, carrots, potatoes and mushrooms; simmer 20 minutes or until tender. Remove bay leaf. , In another pot, cover duck with water; simmer until the meat nearly falls from bones. Remove meat; set aside. Mix flour and water; stir into beef mixture. Cook until thickened. Add rabbit and duck meat. Cut puff pastry into 3-in. squares and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 400° for 10-12 minutes; place on individual servings of meat mixture.

OLD COUNTRY STORE CHESS PIE
I know there are a lot of good, easy, and quick chess pie recipes, but I think this one is my favorite and you don't even have to use a mixer. This recipe comes from The Old Country Store in Jackson TN and we've been making it in our family for at least 30 years. I've used 1.5% milk and apple cider vinegar when that's all I had on hand and you can't tell a difference at all.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Beat eggs.
- Add sugar, flour, and meal to eggs, stir.
- Add vanilla, vinegar, and milk.
- Lastly, add the melted butter. Stir all ingredients well using a whisk.
- Put into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes until firm in the middle.
