Cream of Wheat Porridge With Cinnamon image

Cream of Wheat is the ideal base for adding flavorings. This recipe uses a cinnamon stick to bring a warm spice to the comforting bowl of porridge.

2 cups water (or whole milk)
1 (3-inch) cinnamon stick
1/3 cup Cream of Wheat
Sugar (to taste)
Milk (to taste)
Optional: sliced banana
Optional: blueberries
Garnish: drizzle of honey

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Add the water and the cinnamon stick to a saucepan. Cover the pot and bring the water to a boil.
  • Add the Cream of Wheat. Using a whisk , stir well so there are no lumps.
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer uncovered for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes until the Cream of Wheat has thickened.
  • Remove from the heat and discard the cinnamon stick.
  • Sweeten with sugar and milk, stirring until everything is fully incorporated.
  • Top with fruit and drizzle with honey if desired. Serve and enjoy.

I have always loved eating semolina porridge since I was a child. This is my favorite recipe for making a delicious, creamy meal. Hope you enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups milk
1 cup water
1 ½ teaspoons butter
¼ teaspoon salt
⅓ cup semolina flour
1 tablespoon white sugar

Steps:

  • Combine milk, water, butter, and salt in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring gently. Remove from heat. Pour in semolina flour in a steady stream, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
  • Place saucepan back over medium heat; whisk until porridge comes to a boil, about 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low and cover; cook until porridge thickens, about 20 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat; stir in sugar.
  • Let porridge stand for 3 to 5 minutes before serving.
