CRISPY BAKED BUFFALO CAULIFLOWER WINGS

These extra crispy baked buffalo cauliflower wings are the ultimate veggie dish with a little kick! They are vegan, paleo and whole30 and they are so flavorful and simple to make!

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 large head of cauliflower or 2 small heads
1 cup almond flour
1/4 cup tapioca flour or arrowroot flour
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoons onion powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup non-dairy milk of choice (unsweetened!)
1/2 cup mild or hot buffalo sauce
For serving: scallions or your favorite dressing (I used ranch!)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Wash your cauliflower and break it into small florets.
  • In a medium bowl mix together the flours, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, paprika, and salt.
  • Add the non-dairy milk and give it a good mix so there are no clumps remaining
  • Add all of the cauliflower to a very large bowl then pour the mixture eon top of it and mix so each piece is evenly coated (or you can individually dip each piece if you don't have a large bowl
  • Add the cauliflower to baking sheet and spread them apart
  • Bake for 20 minutes in oven then remove
  • Pour your buffalo sauce into a bowl, then dip each cauliflower floret into the buffalo sauce, and space them out on the baking sheet
  • Bake for another 20 minutes or so until golden!

Buffalo Cauliflower Wings that are baked not fried, super crispy, vegan and gluten free! The perfect spicy appetizer snack bites for game day or any day! Made with Frank's Red Hot Buffalo sauce! Loved by vegetarians and meat eaters alike!

1 medium-large head of cauliflower
1 cup rice flour
1 cup almond milk, unsweetened
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
pinch of pepper
1 cup Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce
2 teaspoons vegan Worcestershire sauce, I like the 'Wizard's' brand or 'Annie's'
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
1 tablespoon maple syrup
my 5 minute vegan ranch dressing (a must!????)

Steps:

  • Pre Heat oven to 425°
  • Wash and core the cauliflower. Then pull apart some of the florets and chop some as well. You want bite size pieces. Roughly the size of a golf ball or a little smaller.
  • Next, in a large bowl whisk the batter ingredients until smooth and add the cauliflower pieces and mix well, so all the pieces are completely coated in the batter.
  • Now place the pieces one by one on a large parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes. No flipping necessary.
  • While they're baking mix up the hot sauce ingredients, (except the maple syrup) and reserve 1/3 cup of the sauce for dipping and mix in the maple syrup.
  • After 25 minutes remove from the oven and add the cauliflower to a large mixing bowl. Pour the hot sauce ( not the reserved sauce) over the cauliflower and mix until all the pieces are coated.
  • Return the cauliflower to the oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Serve right away with the reserved Buffalo hot sauce and my 5 minute vegan ranch dressing. Enjoy!

  • If making the ranch dipping sauce, start by putting your cashews to soak before you begin prepping your cauliflower. Once soaked, prepare the ranch according to its directions and refrigerate until needed.

  • Preheat the oven to 375F/190C. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Chop the cauliflower head into bite sized florets and set aside.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the almond milk and apple cider vinegar to make a buttermilk. Set aside.
  • In a separate small mixing bowl, combine the flour, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt. Add the buttermilk and whisk until smooth and combined.
  • Dip the cauliflower florets one-by-one into the batter, and roll to coat, using a spoon to scoop the batter into all the nooks and crannies. Place the florets onto the baking tray, spreading out so they are not crowded.

  • Preheat oven to 425℉. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease really well with oil. (If your cauliflower is very large, you may need to use a second sheet pan.)
  • Cut your cauliflower into quarters. Cut the core away then break up the cauliflower into medium-sized florets. You may need to cut some of the larger florets, so all the pieces are about the same size.
  • In a large bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, salt, garlic powder, and paprika. Stir in the water. It should be the consistency of very thin pancake batter.
  • Add 4 to 5 florets into the batter at a time and toss to coat. I find using tongs works best, but you can also use a fork or your hands. Transfer the dipped cauliflower to your prepared baking sheet, allowing some of the excess batter to dip back into the bowl first. Make sure to leave plenty of space between the cauliflower so they can brown. Continue with the remaining cauliflower, using a second sheet pan if you run out of room on the first.
