Deep Fried Mushroom Recipe image

Crispy, crunchy and oh so good! Lightly battered button mushrooms deep fried to golden perfection

Number Of Ingredients 8

10 - 12 large white button mushrooms; trimmed and sliced into 1/4 inch slices
1/2 cup of all purpose flour
1 tsp. pepper
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups Italian seasoned bread crumbs
oil for frying (approx. 3 cups)
1/4 cup mayonnaise
3 Tbsp. favorite hot sauce

Steps:

  • Heat oil over medium heat in a heavy bottom pan (like a cast iron) Place flour and pepper into a shallow dish and stir. Set aside Add eggs to another shallow bowl and beat them. Place breadcrumbs into a third shallow dish and set aside. Dredge each mushroom slice into the flour, followed by a dip into the egg and then into the breadcrumbs. Working in small batches, deep fry the mushrooms until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel.
  • Mix together the mayo and hot sauce and serve with the deep fried mushrooms.

I got this recipe from TOH, I think. I have had it so long I really don't remember. My husband loves fried mushrooms and he is very fond of this one.

2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons salt
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 teaspoon dill weed
1 lb fresh mushrooms

Steps:

  • Combine egg and milk in one bowl. Mix flour, pepper, salt, bread crumbs, cheese, and dill weed in another bowl. Place mushrooms in the egg misture, coating well. Then coat in bread mixture. Let stand for a few minutes before frying. Deep fry until golden brown.

Just a quick and easy recipe. I tried to find one on here, but this is the bare bones and very yummy!

8 -10 ounces whole white mushrooms
3/4 cup flour
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs

Steps:

  • Wash the mushrooms and remove most of the stem.
  • Pat mushrooms dry with a paper towel.
  • Coat mushrooms with flour, lightly tap to remove excess flour.
  • Dip in eggs.
  • Coat with bread crumbs.
  • Set on a rack for a few minutes, so batter sets/dries.
  • Heat the oil in the deep fryer to 375 degrees. Pay close attention to grease while it heats. Cooking with oil at high heat levels can be dangerous!
  • Deep fry mushrooms in batches for approximately 3- 4 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels and serve.
