Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9x13-inch pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Spread apple pie filling evenly in bottom of prepared pan. Sprinkle apple pie filling with ½ teaspoon apple pie spice and mix to combine.
  • Evenly distribute the dry cake mix over the apple pie filling. Sprinkle the remaining ½ teaspoon apple pie spice over the dry cake mix. If you are using pecans, sprinkle them evenly over the dry cake mix as well.

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 box yellow cake mix (15 ounce box)
1 cup unsalted butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9x13 baking pan with non-stick baking spray or use my homemade cake release.
  • Fill the bottom of the baking dish with the two cans of apple pie filling. Add cinnamon over the apples and stir gently until well combined.
  • Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the apple layer covering in an even layer.
  • Pour the melted butter over the cake mix, disturbing evenly across the top. DO NOT STIR.
  • Bake for 50 minutes in preheated oven or until golden brown.
  • Remove and allow to cool slightly before serving. This dump cake can be served warm, room temperature or chilled and is excellent with ice cream and caramel on top.

vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and/or caramel sauce, optional toppings

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350º F. Coat a 9 x 13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  • Add both cans of apple pie filling to the baking dish.
  • Pour cake mix in an even layer over the apple pie filling.
  • Drizzle with melted butter, trying to cover as much of the cake mix as possible. (It won't cover it all - that is ok!)
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until bubbly around the edges and dry on top.

21-oz can apple pie filling
1 cup spice cake mix
6 TBSP unsalted butter, melted

Steps:

  • Pour 1 cup of water into the insert pot of your Instant Pot and set the trivet in place.
  • In a 1.5-quart baking dish that fits in your Instant Pot, spread apple pie filling over the bottom.
  • Sprinkle evenly with spice cake mix.
  • Drizzle melted butter over the cake mix, trying to moisten as much of the cake mix as possible.
  • Lower baking dish onto the trivet. Close the lid and set the vent to the sealed position. Select a cook time of 30 minutes at high pressure.
  • Once the cook time is complete, allow a 5 minute natural release, followed by a quick release of remaining pressure.
  • Carefully lift baking dish out of the Instant Pot.
  • If desired, transfer baking dish to a 450F oven and bake for about 5 minutes to brown the topping. Alternatively, if you have an air fryer lid for your Instant Pot, you can empty out the water from the pot, then place the baking dish back into the Instant Pot and use the air fryer lid to crisp up the topping at 450F for about 5 minutes (just be sure to empty the water from the IP if you're using the air fryer lid).
  • Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving with vanilla ice cream.
