1 package yellow cake mix (regular size)
1 can (5 ounces) evaporated milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup chopped nuts
36 Rolo candies, halved

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, beat the cake mix, milk and butter until blended (batter will be thick). Stir in nuts. Press half of mixture into a 13x9-in. baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake 10-12 minutes or until set. , Place candies, cut side down, over crust. Drop remaining batter by tablespoonfuls over the top. Bake 25-30 minutes longer or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

Caramel bars that are soft, chewy, and crunchy at the same time! Inspired by Max's restaurant, it's like having the same thing but with almond flakes instead of ground peanuts. Great for dessert, snack or pack it for kids to enjoy at school.

6 egg yolks
¾ cup brown sugar (or white granulated sugar)
1 cup vegetable oil (or softened butter unsalted or salted)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 397 grams can condense milk
1 cup milk powder
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ tsp baking Powder
¼ tsp salt (remove if using salted butter )
Toppings
½ cup almond flakes - add more if needed (cashew nuts, ground peanuts, chopped walnuts)

Steps:

  • Pre heat oven at 180°C / 356° F. Line 14in. x 10in. baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl beat the egg yolks using a hand mixer or wire whisk until light and pale in color. Then add sugar beat until well incorporated.
  • Add the vegetable oil and vanilla extract then mix again. Pour condense milk then give it a quick mix until all the ingredient are well combined. Tip in milk powder then mix until no traces of milk is left.
  • In a separate bowl sift the flour and baking powder using a strainer.
  • Fold-in the dry ingredient in 2 batches using a spatula until there is no trace of flour. Use a hand mixer then give it a quick beat until smooth. (NOTE: don't over beat or the caramel bars will be tough/hard)
  • Pour the caramel batter into prepared pan then top with almonds flakes. Bake for 40-45 mins or until inserted toothpick comes out clean. Bon appetit!

32 individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
5 tablespoons heavy cream
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
¾ cup brown sugar
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cup butter, melted
½ cup semisweet chocolate chips
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt together the caramels and heavy cream, stirring occasionally until smooth.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and salt. Stir in the melted butter until well blended. Press Half of the mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking pan. Reserve the rest.
  • Bake the crust for 8 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove and sprinkle with chocolate chips and walnuts. Pour the caramel mixture over the top and then crumble the remaining crust mixture over everything.
  • Return to the oven and bake for an additional 12 minutes, or until the top is lightly toasted. Cut into squares while it is still warm.

  • In a big bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until well combined. Add eggs, one at a time, and vanilla.

  • Spread the mixture in an 8-inch square buttered pan.

1 cup Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
or 1 stick Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 tsps. vanilla extract
2 cups Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 cups (12 oz. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (14 oz.) bag caramels, unwrapped
2 tbsps. cold water

Steps:

  • HEAT oven to 350 degrees F. Spray an 8 x 8-inch pan with flour no-stick cooking spray.
  • COMBINE shortening, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla in medium bowl; beat at medium speed until blended.
  • COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Add gradually to shortening mixture at low speed. Beat until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips with spoon. Divide dough in half. Spread half in bottom of prepared pan.
  • COMBINE caramels and water in small saucepan; heat over very low heat. Stir until caramels melt. Spread over dough in pan to within 1/2 inch of edge. Spoon remaining dough over caramel mixture. Spread carefully.
  • BAKE 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown. Loosen from sides of pan with knife. Remove pan to cooling rack to cool completely. Cut into 1 1/2 x 1 1/2-inch bars.

  • Melt caramels in a double boiler or microwave. Stir in 1/3 cup milk and set aside. In a bowl, combine cake mix, butter and remaining milk; set half aside and press other half into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 6 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Pour caramel mixture over; spoon reserved cake mixture on top. Return to oven for 20 minutes.

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Farenheit. 2. Line your pan with grease proof paper and set aside. 3. Sift all the dry ingredients (powdered milk and all purpose flour) 4. Cream sugar and butter at medium speed. For about 5 minutes. Key here is not to overbeat the mixture for a gooey bar ;) 5. Add the egg yolks one at a time and beat well after each addition. 6.
