COZY EGGNOG LATTE RECIPE

Cozy Eggnog Latte Recipe image

Is there anything cozier than a warm glass of eggnog by a roaring fire? Take your favorite holiday drink to the next level by turning it into a latte. Your taste buds will thank you!

Provided by Kate MacDonnell

Categories     Drinks

Time 7m

Number Of Ingredients 4

10 ounces eggnog
2 ounces espresso or strong coffee
Nutmeg
Cinnamon

Steps:

  • Whether you are using espresso or strong coffee, you will need to grind it first. If you're making espresso, we recommend 20-22 grams of fresh, finely-ground coffee beans. If you are using another extraction method, we recommend using more coffee than you normally would. We advise against flavored coffees, as this will only detract from the delicious eggnog spices.
  • Make or heat your eggnog. Heat refrigerated eggnog on the stove over low heat. We want to avoid burning or boiling the 'nog, so keep it below 160 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're using powdered eggnog, whisk it with hot water until you have smooth, frothy liquid.
  • Extract your coffee. Whatever method you have chosen, now is the time to brew your espresso. You can use any espresso machine, portable espresso maker, or Moka pot. If you prefer, you can substitute strong coffee brewed using your favorite method.
  • Now it's time to put it all together! Many lattes use frothed milk, but eggnog already has its own flavor profile and creamy sweetness, so it just needs to be heated. Pour the eggnog over the coffee. Using a spoon or whisk, mix the eggnog and coffee thoroughly.
  • Top with cinnamon and nutmeg, and you'll have a wonderful and festive holiday drink!

Eggnog Latte image

How to Make an Eggnog Latte! This delicious, custardy latte is easy to make at home with REAL ingredients. Plus, it's a perfect way to use up leftover eggnog!

Provided by Sarah Trenalone

Categories     Drinks

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 ounces eggnog (Homemade or store-bought)
4 ounces brewed espresso (more or less as desired)
1/2 cup whole or 2% milk (not skim)
Optional garnish- freshly grated nutmeg, ground cinnamon, whipped cream

Steps:

  • Tip: Eggnog (especially homemade eggnog) has the potential to turn to scrambled eggs during this step. Follow the directions carefully and do not over-heat the eggnog!Stovetop method:Warm eggnog on medium-low in a small pot, testing often, and removing from heat as soon as eggnog is warm but not hotUse a steam wand on a pump-powered espresso maker:Heat the eggnog for approximately 10 seconds. While warming, hold your hand underneath the milk frothing container, and stop frothing as SOON as the container feels warm. Do not attempt to use the frothing wand on a steam-powered espresso maker, because the steam is too hot and the eggs will scramble.
  • Divide eggnog between two large mugs.Next, brew espresso and steam milk. If you don't have a milk steamer, heat milk on stovetop and use a hand-held frother or immersion blender to create some froth (froth optional).
  • Pour half the espresso in each cup, and then stir to help blend the eggnog and espresso. Pour milk into each espresso, holding back the froth with a spoon. Top with foam.Optionally, top with whipped cream and dust with nutmeg or cinnamon.Serve immediately.
